π¨ : A Step Forward for in India
The Government of Indiaβs upcoming **free nationwide HPV vaccination drive for 14-year-old girls** is an important step toward strengthening and protecting the next generation.
According to , cervical cancer remains a major public health challenge in India, with **one woman dying from the disease every 8 minutes** β highlighting the urgent need for , Vaccination, and early prevention.
At Akhandjyoti Foundation (AJF), we are encouraged to see this national momentum.
Between Nov 2024 β Feb 2025, AJF collaborated with NICPR on a research initiative exploring HPVVaccine acceptance among parents of girls and young women in GautamBuddhaNagar.
Through community interactions, parent engagement, and field-based surveys, our team contributed to understanding awareness, perceptions, and barriers around HPV vaccination, reaching **350+ girls and their families**. π©βπ
AJF has also supported school-based cervical cancer awareness and HPV vaccination efforts, helping facilitate vaccination and education sessions for adolescent girls. π
Grassroots experiences like these highlight that successful vaccination programmes depend not only on vaccine availability, but also on CommunityTrust and PublicAwareness.
Encouraging to see Policy, Research, and CommunityAction coming together to move India closer to reducing cervical cancer.
