Empowering communities through awareness and collective action. CIRHEP conducted a Rights Awareness Programme with women community members, creating a space for dialogue, learning, and strengthening their voices. The session focused on understanding basic rights, access to government schemes, and the importance of unity in securing dignity and justice. When communities are informed, they are empowered to shape their own future. Together, we continue working towards equity, inclusion, and sustainable livelihoods.

Center for Improved Rural Health and Environmental Protection (CIRHEP) is a registered Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) registered in 1994. We are working in the districts of Dindigul, Madurai and Theni in Tamil Nadu. We are working with environmental protection, especially through managing the water and soil resources in the area.
The groundwater level has since the 1980s decreased and this has left the area very exposed to droughts. CIRHEP is today working with around 55 villigas to improve the relationship between human and nature.
To reach an improved relationship between human and nature do we working in four different areas:
- Watershed Development
- Ecological Farming
- Women Empowerment
- Nature School
Vison:
Building the capacities of the rural communities in conserving the Vaigai -Kaveri watershed in Dindigul, Theni and Madurai districts and making the area sustainable for better livelihoods.
Mission:
To create a sustainable human – ecology relationship and improve the quality of rural life by striving to alleviate poverty, provide education and conserve the environment with active participation of the rural community.
