The Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India, has invited applications under the Scheme for Strengthening of Medical Device Industry (SMDI)—a flagship initiative designed to reduce import dependence, boost domestic manufacturing, and promote high-quality clinical research in the medical device sector.
Under this scheme, eligible organisations can benefit from two major support components:
🔹 Marginal Investment Scheme for Reducing Import Dependence
Financial support of up to ₹10 Cr for setting up or upgrading manufacturing units for key components, raw materials, finished devices, and accessories. This one-time capital subsidy aims to strengthen India’s capabilities across the entire medical device value chain.
🔹 Medical Device Clinical Studies Support Scheme
Support of up to ₹1–5 Cr (depending on project type) for conducting clinical investigations, performance evaluations, and post-market follow-up studies — enabling safer, more effective, and globally competitive medical devices to be developed within India.
This initiative aligns with India’s long-term vision to transform into a global hub for medical device innovation and manufacturing.
Your contribution can play a key role in shaping the future of India’s MedTech landscape.
