Saksham, with the support of HCLFoundation , conducted a sensitisation workshop at Composite School, Dhoom Manikpur, Dadri, engaging teachers and students in a comprehensive session on disability awareness and inclusion.

Students and teachers were introduced to the concept of disability through an interactive discussion covering its meaning, its various categories and the importance of accessibility and equal opportunity for all. The session also addressed common myths and misconceptions surrounding disability, encouraging participants to engage with the subject empathetically through short stories, discussions, and select excerpts from Bollywood films portraying the lived experiences of persons with disabilities.

The workshop further incorporated experiential and play-based activities to help participants understand the everyday challenges faced by persons with disabilities. Interactive riddles and group activities encouraged observation, critical thinking, and collaborative engagement among participants.

The session concluded with a reflection on the responsibility of each individual in fostering an inclusive school environment where persons with disabilities are treated with dignity, respect, and equal opportunity.

Saksham continues to work towards building an inclusive society by engaging schools and communities in meaningful conversations around disability, accessibility, and equal opportunity.

Saksham Tek Fiesta Odisha brought together young minds with visual impairment for a celebration of technology, talent, and togetherness at the National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled (NCSCDA), Bhubaneswar.

The event was graced by Dear Mr. Sanyashi Behera, Dy Secretary, Dept of Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Bhubaneswar, dedicated to technology awareness, inclusion, and empowerment of students with visual impairment.

Students explored assistive technology and digital accessibility through interactive workshops, discovered STEM through inclusive games, tested their knowledge in a lively technology quiz, and took the stage to showcase their incredible talents.

From curious questions during the sessions to proud moments on the talent stage, every part of these two days reflected what's possible when inclusion meets opportunity.

Saksham has been working to make technology and opportunity accessible for persons with visual impairment through skill-building and awareness. Platforms like these help students discover their potential and step forward with confidence.

As part of the SBIF: COE SAMARTHYA project, Saksham conducted a two-day follow-up training session at Rajasthan Netraheen Kalyan Sangh (RNKS), benefiting 27 students with visual impairment.

The sessions focused on:
🔹 Foundational computer literacy
🔹 Hands-on practice with DAISY players
🔹 Smart Cane training for independent mobility
🔹 Digital accessibility through Android smartphones

The sessions helped students build confidence in using these technologies for everyday learning and independent living.

From 1 June to 26 June 2026, Saksham Punjab conducted a Skill Development Training Programme for persons with visual impairment at Saksham Tech Vision Lab, Mehr Chand Polytechnic College, Jalandhar.

The programme focused on Microsoft Word, basic computer skills, mobility training, and soft skills training. A total of 10 participants successfully completed the programme, gaining practical skills that support greater independence and employability.

The valedictory function, held on 26 June 2026, was graced by Dr. V. K. Sood, Mrs. Nandita Sood, and Dr. Jagroop Singh, Principal, Mehr Chand Polytechnic College, Jalandhar. Certificates were presented to all participants in recognition of their hard work and dedication.

The Skill Development Training Programme successfully enhanced the confidence, independence, and employability skills of the participants.

A special thank you to everyone who supported the programme, including those who generously arranged accommodation for the participants and helped create a comfortable learning environment throughout the training period.

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive without barriers.

As part of the SBIF: COE SAMARTHYA in partnership with Saksham, this year's focus extends beyond establishing new Digital Learning Labs. We are also conducting follow-up training in schools supported during the earlier phase of the project, ensuring that students and teachers continue to build their digital skills and make the best use of the assistive technologies already provided.

Recently, our team visited the School for the Hearing Impaired and Visually Impaired, Dhalli, Shimla, where 30 students from Classes 6 to 12 participated in a follow-up digital literacy programme.

The training reinforced students' knowledge of screen reading software, Microsoft Word and Excel, Android smartphones, and assistive devices for visually impaired.

More importantly, it helped strengthen their confidence to use these tools independently for learning and everyday life.

Sustainable inclusion is built through continuous support. By revisiting previously supported schools, we ensure that technology remains an active part of students' education, empowering them to become more confident, independent, and future-ready.

Together with SBI Foundation, we remain committed to creating lasting impact through accessible education and technology.

Access to information should not depend on having someone else read it for you.

Whether it's a WhatsApp message, an email, a meeting link, or an important notification, being able to access information independently can open doors to education, employment, communication, and everyday opportunities.

Through this tutorial series, Saksham and HCL Foundation aim to help people build practical smartphone skills such as managing contacts, using WhatsApp, accessing and sending emails through Gmail, and communicating confidently in everyday situations.

These are not just digital skills. They are life skills that help people stay connected, access opportunities, and participate more independently in the world around them.

Vision Beyond Sight | Special Workshop 2026 ✨

Saksham, in collaboration with , successfully concluded a five-day workshop under the Pratyasha Program for children with visual impairment and low vision. The workshop focused on building independence, promoting accessible education, and introducing participants to assistive technologies and tools that support their academic and personal growth.
The workshop brought together children with visual impairment and low vision, alongside parents who participated in dedicated counselling and guidance sessions on education, confidence, and access to opportunity.

A key highlight was the Special Educators Training Workshop held on 9th June, led by Dr. Piyush Chanana, Lead Scientist & Program Coordinator, NCAHT, IIT Delhi, covering Assistive Technologies, Accessibility Tools, Digital Inclusion, and Effective Teaching Approaches for learners with visual impairment and low vision.

We were honoured by the presence of Ms. Asmita Lal, District Magistrate, Baghpat, whose encouragement reaffirmed our shared commitment to building a more inclusive and accessible society.
Special Educators from Baghpat, Bhagirath Sewa Sansthan (Ghaziabad), and Delhi came together with a unified vision of equal opportunities for every child.

Today, much of that help can come from the smartphone in your pocket.

Apps like Envision AI, Google Lookout, and Seeing AI can help you read text, identify currency, recognise people, and better understand the world around you.

Many people have heard of these apps, but aren't always sure where to begin or how to make them part of their everyday lives.

That's why Saksham and HCL Foundation have come together to create simple, beginner-friendly tutorials to help you get started and use these tools with greater confidence.
