Institute for Development Initiatives Engender development, lest it be endangered. Projects must be planned, designed, implemented and evaluated by people and their institutions.

Vision: Goal of development is human development in society, the unfolding of the full potential of the human person in social context. Key elements of development are spreading skills for people to meet basic human needs, empowering people ad promoting growth with equity, justice and environmental sustainability. Multi-disciplinary work is required to observe, document and analyse project interve

ntions and their outcomes so that a sufficiently accurate and reliable body of knowledge can emerge on the process of development. To be relevant, projects must address the “moral economy” of the people, that is, their motives for social and economic action in the context of scarcity of resources.
