Tribal Students’ Hostel Movement in Wada, Palghar

Demanding that the issues faced by students at the new and old tribal students’ hostels in Wada taluka of Palghar district be resolved, and immediately withdraw the anti-student GR, students have started a protest outside the hostel amid heavy rains.

Day 8 – Tribal Students Hostel Movement, Maharashtra

The tribal students hostel movement has been continuing across Maharashtra from last eight days for hostel related demands. Today, SFI Maharashtra State President Comrade Rohidas Jadhav visited the protest at Manjari, Pune. Addressing the protesters, he assured them that SFI stands with the students and will continue to support the movement across the state. The movement has not stopped; instead, it is growing stronger and more intense.

In Telangana state, in protest against the privatization of government polytechnic colleges and the move to merge polytechnic education into the Young India Skill University, which was set up under a Public-Private Partnership model, SFI organized dharnas and rallies across the state today.

In Hyderabad district, SFI State Secretary T. Nagaraju took part in the protest at Secunderabad East, Maredpally.

SFI along with other left and progressive student organisation, is leading a sit-in before the VC office at Punjabi University, Patiala for the past eight days, continues its struggle with enthusiasm and determination on its 8th day, 18 August. Last Night, the Front organised a Jago March from the Vice-Chancellor’s Office to the Vice-Chancellor’s residence to protest against the fee hike. In an attempt to stop this peaceful student protest, the university administration called in police forces from outside. During the march, police allegedly used force against protesting students, Female students were also reportedly dragged by male police personnel. Such action is a serious assault on the democratic rights of students and their right to peaceful protest. Despite these attempts to suppress the movement, the students remained united and determined. The Jago March successfully reached the Vice-Chancellor’s residence, demonstrating the strength and resolve of the student movement. in defence of students’ democratic rights. Following strong student resentment, the university administration was compelled to apologise to the Dean of Academic Affairs. The struggle against the unjust fee hike, New hostel Construction and Basic Facilities continues with greater determination and unity.
