The third day of the 10th Edition of DHEYA – Exposure cm Capacity Building Programme, organised by Vishwa Yuvak Kendra and The Bajaj Foundation, was dedicated to learning directly from grassroots development models and community-led initiatives.
With around 120 Civil Society Organisations from across India, participants visited a range of initiatives to understand practical approaches to agriculture, livelihoods, natural farming, women-led enterprises and water management.
Rural Mart – Learning from an FPO’s Business Journey: Participants visited the Rural Mart to understand the business journey of a Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) and explore how collective action and market linkages can create better opportunities and strengthen farmers’ livelihoods.
Natural Farming – Learning from the Farm: At the farm of Shri Ramavatar Bhugaliya, participants experienced a farm tour and learned about the practices and benefits of natural farming, gaining insights into sustainable and locally relevant approaches to agriculture.
Agro-processing, SHGs & Watershed Development: At the Bajra agro-processing unit, SHG members shared their journey and experiences of building livelihoods through collective enterprise. Participants also interacted with the Village Watershed Committee and learned about the community-level impact and experiences of the Disnau Watershed Project.
Nursery Business – Diversifying Farmers’ Income: The visit to the farm of Shri Bhanwarlal Rohela offered participants an opportunity to understand how nursery businesses can support farmers in diversifying and improving their income, along with the support systems that help strengthen farm-based livelihoods.
Day 3 highlighted an important lesson: sustainable rural development grows from the ground up—when farmers, communities, women’s groups and local institutions are empowered to create solutions, strengthen livelihoods and drive positive change.
