Hi, I'm Jasmine Waskale, a 7th-grader from Sai Ram Leprosy Seva Samiti Colony in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. I live with my parents and siblings. From childhood, I've dreamt of learning self-defence to have the courage and the confidence to protect myself and others, but poverty and societal stereotypes kept it out of reach. Daily life terrified me. I hesitated to step outside, haunted by "What if something bad happens?" Shyness silenced me; helplessness and discrimination in our colony made me feel small and vulnerable.

Then, one day during a class in the After School Learning Centre run by S-ILF in our colony, the S-ILF staff shared about its Children Development Program self-defence program, a ray of hope! I convinced my parents, and Mom urged, "Become strong, beta."

Nervous at first, I dove in. Instructors taught kicks, punches, focus, and bold decisions. My body ached, mind tired, but their encouragement fuelled me. Within weeks, fear faded; confidence bloomed. I started participating in the district and state-level competitions. I have won many medals in these competitions. Madhya Pradesh State Championship, National-level Karate Championship. Recently, I won a silver medal at the Indore District Karate Championship.

Now, I walk tall through school. Friends and teachers who once pitied me now applaud my story. I'm self-reliant, ready for any challenge-no more hiding. The same paths that scared me now feel empowering.

β€œS-ILF didn't just teach skills; it gave me a new identity. Free from fear, I dream of international competitions and empowering every girl to unleash her strength. Thank you, S-ILF, you turned my dreams into power!”

🌟 Humanitarian Aid in Action! 🌟

Under our Humanitarian Aid program, distributed essential Ulcer Care Kits to elderly persons affected by leprosy in the leprosy colonies of Bankura, West Bengal.

Why Ulcer Care Matters: Leprosy-related ulcers are a common, painful complication that can lead to infections, mobility issues, and severe health risks if not managed properly. These kits contain antiseptics, dressings, and ointments, which empower residents to prevent complications, promote healing, and reclaim their dignity.

Together, we're bringing hope and healing to marginalised communities! πŸ’™

Over the past two days, hope, confidence and new possibilities came alive in Indore. 🌱

successfully conducted 2 days of the Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) at Indore (M.P.), where multiple persons affected by Leprosy and their families residing across the colonies in Ratlam, Indore, Khandwa and Ujjain came together to learn, share and grow as future entrepreneurs.

From exploring business ideas to understanding markets and money management, each session was a step towards financial independence and a life of dignity for persons and families affected by leprosy. Their enthusiasm, questions and participation turned this workshop into a powerful space of learning and solidarity.

Together, we are not just building enterprises – we are building confidence, choice and a better future. πŸ’š

🌟 Bringing light and shelter to those who need it most!

The team recently visited leprosy colonies in Assam, distributing solar lamps and tarpaulin sheets under our humanitarian aid support.

These solar lamps illuminate homes after dark, enabling safe studying for children, evening chores for families, and reducing reliance on costly kerosene, empowering self-sufficient living in remote north-eastern colonies.

The sturdy tarpaulin sheets provide reliable protection from relentless monsoons and harsh weather, safeguarding health, belongings, and dignity for persons affected by leprosy and their loved ones.

Together, we're fostering hope, resilience, and brighter futures! πŸ’‘πŸ
