Dr. Sushila Sansar Chand Almast Public Welfare Trust (Sukhi Sansar) was founded on 5th May, 2011 at New Delhi, India with Dr Sushrut Almast as the "Founder Trustee". Dr. Sansar Chand Almast was born in a small village called “Harkatnaur”, Tehsil Dehra in District of Kangra, Himachal Pradesh. He went on to do his MBBS and then MS Surgery from Patna, Bihar with Honours. Sinha he came to the capital
city in search of a job. A simple man that he was, on his first visit to Delhi he had to walk all the way from Faridabad to Delhi. The rest is history as he went on to become the most successful and respected surgeon’s in 60’s through 80’s providing relief to thousands of his patients. His simplicity, humility, surgical skills, piousness and philanthropic nature won him the hearts of one and all. All along his successful journey as a surgeon, he was ably supported by his wife Dr. Sushila Almast, a gynaecologist, who did her MBBS from Lady Harding Medical College, Delhi (This was during the times when women were not allowed to step out of their houses ). Her biggest asset was the personal care and attention –“ the human touch” she would provide to the patients, sadly missing in today’s times. The patients and relatives considered her as their family member. Dr Sansar Chand Almast and Dr Sushila Almast have been my idol and inspiration and I am fortunate to be born as their son. Dr Sansar Chand Almast always cherished a dream to provide modern and state of the art healthcare services to the underprivileged. His "Dream Project"was to provide people of Himachal Pradesh with the best of healthcare and establish a healthcare centre in the district of Kangra, his native place. During his numerous visits to the “Dev Bhoomi” Himachal, he repeatedly expressed this desire. However his desire remained unfulfilled during his lifetime. The trust has been established to realise the noble aspirations of Dr Sansar Chand Almast. However we have added our Dream to his Dream… to see his “Dream Project” become a global healthcare destination.
