• Projects

A) ‘Nadaan Parindey’ is the pilot project of Together for a Cause and currently completed its first phase of operations in April 2014.Nadaan Parindey is to reflect the core ideology of the organization as it works with children from across the city and assists them in their personality development and safeguard their childhood through focusing on non-academic curricula. The objective of the programme was to focus on aesthetics of childhood which have been overshadowed by the mechanical needs of society portrayed through academics. The project aims to give the kids a chance to spread their wings and make a name for themselves in their field of choice. Nadaan Parindey’s idiosyncrasy lies in the potpourri of its participants, where age and academic qualifications are no bar. This in turn would bring together groups of people who may not have otherwise had an opportunity to interact with and learn from each other within the conventional social strata. Students from various educational institutions are selected and made a part of series of simultaneous workshops. There is an already ongoing classroom project called ‘Raah’ as part of the Nadaan Parindey module emphasizing on theater and spoken word poetry. In addition to Raah a musical subset of the parent project with its objective in sync with Nadaan Parindey and will allow for various musicians to come on board and work together with each other and these children. Project Raah is classroom based initiative administered and run by Together For A Cause in National Association for the Blind in association with Save The Quest – a Delhi Based Non Profit Organization working with the visually disabled children. The objective of Raah is to focus on real time experience for the children involved rather than futuristic endeavors of creating a talent pool. Raah has five aspects to it which is primarily focused on for classroom purposes which are art, music, theatre, dance and spoken word poetry. Spoken Word Poetry is a form of expressional poetry performed to engage the audience in storytelling. Its high value usage lies in the personal approach and day to day language of the poems. However the main usage of spoken word poetry in these classrooms is allowing the children to work on their expression and emotions along with helping them work on their stage presence and oratory skills. Currently in the National Association for the Blind classroom, where our curriculum includes reading out poetry, introduction to various forms of poetry, writing and speaking out poetry, along with games related and dedicated towards improving their understanding and fancy for poetry. Furthermore we are working on a theater module with these children and are currently scripting a play with these visually disabled children. The objective is to increase their inclination towards theatre and hence bring textbooks to life by enacting the theoretical chapters from their textbooks. The major focus of this project is to engage children in music, art, dance, theatre, etc and to not take it as a learning for the future but as a way to enjoy their present, their childhood - which we have seen change due to the fast changing world along with the competitive academic structure, because of which children tend to lose on out enjoying childhood. This summer the project will extend to five more classrooms in pan Delhi region. Raah is currently functioning from National Association for the Blind in association with Save The Quest, Delhi College of Arts & Commerce in association with Project Tanzeal and National Service Scheme, Delhi College of Arts & Commerce, Convent of Jesus & Mary School and with a new classroom in Gandhinagar, New Delhi.
