Air Cargo Forum India The “Air Cargo Forum India” - ACFI is an association of various stakeholders of Air Cargo Logistic Supply Chain Trade and Industry i.e. Freight Forwarders,

Freight Forwarders, Airlines, Airport Operators, Cargo Terminal Operators, Customs House Agents and Express Industry formed to support and promote the development of air cargo logistics industry in India. ACFI is unique as it is the only association nationwide having representation of the entire air cargo logistic supply chain. ACFI has been taking up the major challenges of air cargo logistic industry with various Government bodies and Ministries for bringing improvement in processing of international air cargo and express trade at the airports of the country to facilitate growth in EXIM trade to boost the Indian economy. >> Develop major Airports as Cargo Gateway Airports with cost effective & efficient services & world class infrastructure facilities.

>> Develop major transit cargo hubs- Taking the benefit of India’s Geo-political situation being positioned at the East west air transport corridor; all out efforts shall be made to convert Indian international airports becoming major transit cargo hubs.

>> Implementation of Simplified Air Cargo Processing - The regulatory frame of our country is very rigid with traditional mind set. Drastic changes in the regulatory policies and mind set at all the levels of the regulatory mechanism to be inculcated by introducing simplified procedures.

>> Generate Bigger Voice & platform - Create/develop strong association of embers from entire air cargo trade with capable, knowledgeable & credible Members of cargo community to create bigger voice & platform for resolving air cargo trade related common issues of concern.

>> Bring Synergy among ACFI members with an intention to work together on common issues of mutual interest unitedly to face its challenges and work for the speedy growth of air cargo & fast economic development of the country.

Building the Next Generation of India’s Air Cargo Ecosystem

At the ACFI World Conclave 2026, we spoke with Mr. Avinash Razdan, Hon. Treasurer, ACFI & Group CEO, CSC Group, about the opportunities and challenges shaping the future of India's air cargo and airport ecosystem.

With India's economy, manufacturing base, airline capacity and connectivity continuing to expand, the opportunity for air cargo is growing rapidly.

But growth in volumes alone is not enough.

Mr. Razdan highlighted several priorities that will determine how efficiently India can scale its cargo ecosystem:
• Improving cargo visibility and transparency
• Accelerating digitalisation across cargo processes
• Enabling faster, data-driven decision-making
• Automating repetitive operational processes
• Using AI to enhance routine decision-making
• Building infrastructure alongside cargo volumes
• Creating the scale required for economies of scale
• Strengthening networks to enable seamless transshipment
• Developing policies that are aligned with industry processes

One particularly important insight was the distinction between digitalisation and AI.
The foundation has to be digital. Once repetitive processes are digitised and structured, automation can make them faster and more predictable — and AI can then further enhance routine decision-making.

The larger opportunity lies in building the scale, network and infrastructure that can position Indian airports alongside the world's leading cargo hubs.

India is on that journey. And the next phase will be about how efficiently the ecosystem can scale.

An EV is only as strong as the ecosystem that keeps it moving.

From cost volatility to documentation accuracy, terminal handling charges and cold-chain processes, the conversation focuses on one fundamental question:

How can we make air cargo more predictable, transparent and easier for shippers to navigate?

Key areas discussed:

📦 Cost, capacity and transit-time predictability

🔍 End-to-end shipment visibility and digital integration

One particularly interesting perspective was the comparison with passenger travel.

Passengers can see available flights, pricing, seats and options in real time. Could cargo have a similar level of visibility into available aircraft capacity?

Greater transparency could potentially help shippers make faster decisions — including shifting time-sensitive or even ocean-bound cargo to air when capacity and pricing make sense.

As India's global trade ecosystem continues to expand, making air cargo more predictable, transparent and shipper-centric will be essential.

At the ACFI World Conclave 2026, we spoke with Ms. Nomita Kothari, Vice Chair, ACFI Women Empowerment Task Pillar & CEO, New Globe Logistics, about the opportunities and challenges shaping India's logistics and air cargo ecosystem.

From Indian SMEs to Global Markets

At the ACFI World Conclave 2026, we spoke with Darpan Lamba, Co-Founder, XPortel, about one of the most important opportunities emerging in India's logistics ecosystem: enabling smaller businesses to sell directly to customers across the world.

For years, cross-border commerce was largely accessible to businesses with significant capital, inventory and established international networks. According to Darpan, that landscape is changing.

Today, an entrepreneur in Tirupur, Jaipur or another emerging Indian market can increasingly reach customers in the US, Europe and other global markets through e-commerce and cross-border logistics.

But unlocking this opportunity at scale will require more than logistics capacity.

The ecosystem needs stronger integration between:
• Logistics providers
• Banking and payment systems
• Government platforms
• Export documentation
• Demand creation
• Digital infrastructure

Darpan highlights that India has already travelled a significant distance, but many of the pieces are still disconnected. The next opportunity lies in stitching those pieces together and making global trade simpler for the smallest exporter.

At the ACFI World Conclave 2026, we had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Ramesh Mamidala, Head of Cargo, Air India Ltd. and Vice President, Air Cargo Forum India (ACFI), about the growth trajectory of India’s air cargo industry and what it will take to unlock its next phase of development.

With India targeting 10 million tonnes of annual air cargo, the opportunity is significant. Growing manufacturing, exports, policy changes and strong stakeholder sentiment are creating the momentum needed to move towards this ambition.
But achieving this growth will require more than ambition.
