For decades, 𝐓𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐥𝐞 carried firsthand stories from inside Tibet.

But that flow has 𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝.

According to Central Tibetan Administration data reported by DW, more than 𝟏𝟐,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐓𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝟏𝟗𝟗𝟓 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟏𝟗𝟗𝟗. In the past five years, that 𝐧𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐨 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟖𝟏.

The STEEPEST DECLINE began after 2008, as the PRC expanded surveillance, policing, and border enforcement across Tibet and along the Tibet-Nepal route.

Fewer new arrivals means fewer direct voices from inside Tibet and a growing silence between Tibetans in Tibet and the exile community.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama left Dharamshala for Delhi for treatment on his left knee, as hundreds lined the road with incense and scarves. After recovery, he is expected to visit Ladakh in late June.

Dalai Lama departed Dharamshala for Delhi to undergo knee treatment. Following his recovery, he plans to travel to Ladakh for an extended stay in June.

According to Tibet Watch, Chinese authorities have recently detained Tibetan Buddhist monk Jamyang Tashi for a second time, raising severe well-being concerns.

𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐄𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞-𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐨, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Group for Tibet in the French Senate, is urging Macron to 𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐣𝐢𝐧𝐠 over China's Ethnic Unity Law, set to take effect July 1, 2026.

Her letter warns the law accelerates the 𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥, 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 by codifying assimilation policies into national law.

Critically, she flags the law's extraterritorial reach, which could enable 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐓𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐬, 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝 for activities deemed a threat to "national unity."

The appeal follows the European Parliament's resolution on April 30 condemning the same law, and growing concern from the UN Human Rights Office.

Team Tibet hit the pavement at the 𝟒𝟔𝐭𝐡 𝐁𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝟐𝟎𝐤𝐦 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐞 on May 31!

Joining 𝟓𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝟏𝟒𝟏 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬, Tibetans in Belgium came together to run under one banner in 𝐨𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧.

While community members have raced individually in the past, this marks their EXCITING FIRST TIME taking on the course as a unified team.
