The Indian Registry for Internet Names and Numbers or IRINN is a part of the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) and is responsible for allocation and registration service of IP addresses and AS numbers. This domestic exchange ensures efficient use of international bandwidth, thereby improving the Quality of Services for customers by avoiding multiple international hops and thus reducing latency.
IN Registry
Since 2005, the IN Registry has been functioning as an autonomous body, within NIXI, with the primary responsibility of maintaining the .IN ccTLD. The Registry operations ensure operational stability, reliability, and security. NIXI has also successfully implemented various provisions of the new policy drafted by the Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Government of India.
