Today marks World Hemophilia Day 2026. This year's theme, "Diagnosis, First Step to Care," highlights a major hurdle in global hematology: the diagnostic gap.
In many regions, severe bleeding disorders remain undiagnosed, leading to preventable complications. By strengthening laboratory capacities and training healthcare providers to recognize early symptoms, we can bridge the divide between a patient and the treatment they need.

GLRA India’s current focus on and reflects long experience. Children with are frequently undiagnosed, and women often face delayed testing due to stigma and care-seeking barriers. TB elimination will remain elusive unless these groups are deliberately prioritised.
National targets matter, but targets alone do not cure TB. Progress depends on finding every case, supporting every patient, and staying engaged until treatment is complete. On World TB Day, GLRA India reaffirms a simple but demanding commitment:
“Find TB early, treat it completely, and ensure no one is left behind.”

On observance, GLRA India conducted a TB awareness campaign on 18 March 2026 at TSL Bhiwandi, 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗮 𝗩𝗶𝗱𝘆𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗮 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱𝘆𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗮, Padgha, reaching over 300 students.

What made the day truly impactful was not just participation but the energy and ownership shown by the students. The creative competitions take place from drawing & rangoli to races & musical chairs, and the important messages on tuberculosis were communicated in ways that were both relatable and memorable.

According to the World Health Organization Global Tuberculosis Report 2025, tuberculosis remains a major public health challenge worldwide, and India continues to carry the highest TB burden. In 2024, India accounted for about one in every four TB cases globally, with an estimated 187 cases per 100,000 population, though the country has achieved a 21% decline in incidence since 2015. While progress has been made, accelerating early diagnosis, strengthening community awareness, and ensuring uninterrupted treatment remain critical to achieving a TB-Free India.

With the continued support of DAHW German Leprosy and Tuberculosis Relief Association, GLRA India has been making significant progress in TB Elimination in Gurugram, Bhiwandi, and Lucknow.
