Established in 1964, SOS Children’s Villages of India provides children without parental care or at the risk of losing it, a value chain of quality care services that goes beyond childcare alone, ensuring comprehensive child development. Our customized care interventions such as: Family Like Care, Family Strengthening, Kinship Care, Short Stay Homes, Foster Care, Youth Skilling, Emergency Childcare and Special Needs Childcare are aimed at transforming lives and enabling children under care into self-reliant and contributing members of society. The organization empowers vulnerable families in communities to become financially independent, thereby enabling them to create safe and nurturing spaces for children under their care. Today, over 6,500 children live in more than 440 family homes, inside 32 SOS Children’s Villages of India, in 22 States/UTs, from Srinagar to Kochi, and Bhuj to Shillong. As India’s largest self-implementing childcare NGO, SOS Children’s Villages India directly touches the lives of around 30,000 children every year. We are delighted to announce that, SOS Children's Villages India has been declared the winner in the ‘Best Application & Use of Renewable Energy’ category (SME Sector) at the 10th Edition of the CII National Energy Efficiency Circle Competition, held on 2 July 2026 at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

This year's competition, themed ‘Powering the Net Zero Goal,’ brought together some of the country's leading organisations committed to energy efficiency, renewable energy adoption, and carbon neutrality.

The entries were evaluated by an expert jury panel, and this recognition is a meaningful validation of the sustained efforts of our teams in adopting cleaner, more sustainable energy solutions across our Children's Villages.

Our Net Zero journey so far:
• 76 biogas plants
• 60 vermicompost units
• 16 rainwater harvesting systems across our programme locations

This achievement reflects our commitment to creating a sustainable future for children while contributing meaningfully to India's climate and environmental goals.

Children inaugurated our second Mobile Digital Learning Centre in Delhi in partnership with Informa Exhibitions.

Today, a bus pulled into a lane in North West Delhi today. It was a busy narrow street in a JJ Cluster. A door opened and children walked in.

For many of them, it was the first time they had sat in front of a computer. The first time someone told them that the digital world belonged to them too.

This is Umeed on Wheels. And today, we brought it home again.

When we launched the first Mobile Digital Learning Centre in Delhi, our goal was simple. If we removed every barrier between a child and learning; distance, cost, access, something powerful would happen.

It did.

804 children and women reached. 152 street children from Shastri Park, Mansarover Park, and Geeta Colony. 21 who now run their own enterprises. 38 linked to further education. 5 employed. 8 children back in school.

But numbers only tell part of the story.

The other part lives in the face of a girl from a JJ cluster who learned to file a government form online. In a young woman who got her first scholarship because she finally knew it existed. In a boy who, for the first time, didn't feel like the city had left him behind.

Today, with the inauguration of our second Mobile Digital Learning Centre in North West Delhi, in partnership with Informa Exhibitions, we scale this initiative to 400 more lives.

Because every child deserves a fair start. And sometimes, all it takes is learning that comes to them.

We organised an immersive art workshop for 50 children, led by the Education team and hosted at the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (KNMA), New Delhi.

The session kicked off with an inspiring, guided museum tour where children discovered the rich stories behind the artworks on display. Following the tour, the KNMA Education team led interactive painting and hands-on activities, transforming the museum into a joyful space for imagination, storytelling, and emotional expression.

This collaborative effort highlights a shared commitment to providing children with enriching experiences outside the conventional classroom. By encouraging the participants to paint their unique perspectives, the workshop harnessed the transformative power of art to boost confidence, support holistic development, and empower vulnerable children to communicate freely and thrive.

On this International Day of Yoga, our children, youth, caregivers and co-workers across all our programme locations came together to celebrate the power of holistic wellness. Embracing this year's powerful theme, ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing,’ our young ones and community members practiced mindful asanas to champion lifelong health, mental agility, and physical vitality.

By building these positive habits today, we are ensuring our children grow into strong, independent, and healthy adults tomorrow.

5,000+ Saplings. 32 Programme Locations. 1 Greener Future!

To mark World Environment Day, SOS Children’s Villages India has launched a nationwide sapling plantation drive aligned with this year's theme, "Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future."

Spanning 32 SOS Children’s Villages and multiple Family Strengthening Programme locations across the country, the initiative brought together children, caregivers, co-workers, and local communities to plant over 5,000 climate-resilient, native, medicinal, and fruit-bearing tree including neem, mango, and moringa.

Driven by local needs, the campaign saw its highest impact in Latur with over 2,000 saplings planted.

Breaking Taboos, Building Confidence!

On Menstrual Hygiene Day, SOS Children's Villages India, under our Family Strengthening Programme, organised an impactful menstrual health awareness session in the Naveen Chhavni Pathar community in Bhopal.

Supported by the Family Planning Association of India (FPAI), the initiative brought together 50 female caregivers and 50 adolescent girls in a safe, interactive space. Led by female volunteers and experts, the session successfully shattered deep-rooted myths, replaced long-standing social stigmas with scientific facts, and focused on essential practices like proper sanitary pad usage, regular changing schedules, and hygienic disposal methods. Young girls received tailored guidance on personal cleanliness and self-care, and the event concluded with the distribution of sanitary pads to all 100 participants.

Because sustainable change requires ongoing effort, we will be hosting regular follow-up sessions in the coming months to firmly root these healthy practices within the community. When we equip women and girls with knowledge and resources, we don't just protect their health; we restore their dignity and confidence.

We are thrilled to announce that we have been recognised as the ‘Best NGO of the Year’ at the EU Media CSR Awards 2026 in New Delhi!

The award was presented during the CSR & Sustainability Connect Summit (CSCS) on May 22, 2026, at the Constitution Club of India, New Delhi. The summit brought together over 100 CSR leaders, policymakers, and sector experts dedicated to sustainable development and community transformation.

Healthy smiles are in order!

SOS Children's Villages India, in partnership with the Flipkart Foundation, is bringing accessible healthcare directly to the children at our Children’s Villages in Bawana, Varanasi, Kolkata and Bangalore, through a comprehensive medical camp.

Specialised doctors volunteered their time to conduct check-ups, address specific health concerns, and provide free medicines and guidance in a supportive and open environment. This collaboration is a meaningful step toward ensuring every child has the opportunity for a healthy and happy future!

The theme for this Family Day is 'Families, Inequalities and Child Wellbeing.' It highlights a critical reality: a child's wellbeing is deeply tied to the stability of the family they grow up in. When children lose parental care, they are instantly exposed to severe inequalities; lacking access to quality education, secure healthcare, and emotional safety.

The happy family in this picture represents what child wellbeing should look like for everyone. Yet, for millions of children, this simple sense of security is entirely out of reach.

At SOS Children's Villages India, our focus is on closing this gap. We believe that the ultimate equalizer for a vulnerable child is a loving and caring family-like environment. True child wellbeing isn't a privilege to be earned; it is a fundamental foundation that every single child has a right to experience.

Today, let’s look beyond our own circles and reflect on how we can build a society where no child’s future is limited by inequality.

For a vulnerable child, the world can often feel loud and terrifying. You can only fix it with a person who stays by their side.

A mother is the stable heartbeat that allows a child to do more than just exist. When a child has a hand to hold and a heart to lean on, they find the bravery to reach for the sky.

A safe child can fly. Because motherhood is the security every child needs to thrive.
