For many women farmers in rural India, farming has become increasingly uncertain. When the rains fail, families are often left struggling to manage daily expenses, food, and education for their children.

One woman farmer chose to change that story.

With support through the Safbin Caritas project of Caritas India, supported by Caritas Österreich, she began backyard poultry farming after participating in Farmer Field School training sessions.

She learned how to rear poultry, prepare feed using locally available grains, maintain hygiene, and care for the health of her flock. What started with just a few chicks has now become a reliable source of additional income for her family.

The earnings are helping support household needs, improve nutrition, and reduce dependence on uncertain crop seasons. More importantly, the experience has given her confidence and inspired other women in the village to start similar livelihood activities.

This is more than poultry farming.
It is resilience. It is dignity. It is women leading change within their own communities.

Real transformation often begins with small opportunities and determined hands.

Not every disease is visible.
Some children fight for life with every drop of blood. ❤️

India records nearly 10,000–15,000 children born with thalassemia every year, while lakhs of families continue to battle this inherited blood disorder. Yet, awareness and early screening can prevent countless lives from suffering.

On World Thalassemia Day, Caritas India, with the support of Highway Roop Precision Technologies Ltd, organized an awareness session at CHC Rozka Meo in the presence of Dr. Rajesh, health workers, ASHA workers, and community members to spread awareness on:

🩸 Early screening
🩸 Genetic counselling
🩸 Timely diagnosis and treatment
🩸 Premarital and antenatal screening
🩸 Community support and care

Because prevention begins with awareness.
Because every child deserves a healthy future.
Because one conversation can save generations.

Together, we can create informed communities, reduce stigma, and protect future generations from thalassemia. Join the movement for awareness and prevention.

Today, we joyfully celebrate the birthday of our Executive Director, Rev. Fr. Jesudass. Your inspiring leadership, compassionate service, and deep faith continue to guide the Caritas India family in serving the most vulnerable across our country.

Thank you, Father, for being a shepherd, mentor, and servant leader who reminds us every day what it means to live the Gospel through action.

On this special day, we pray that God blesses you with good health, wisdom, and abundant grace as you continue to lead us in our mission of compassion, justice, and hope. Happy Birthday, Father!

We were blessed by the presence of His Eminence Anthony Cardinal Poola, Most Rev. Thomas Mar Koorilos, Most Rev. Mathew Moolakkatt, Most Rev. Anil Joseph Thomas Couto, and Rev. Dr. Mathew Koyickal, warmly received by our Chairman Most Rev. Dr. Linus Neli, Executive Team, and staff.

Cardinal Poola appreciated Caritas India’s unwavering service to communities across the nation, especially during times of disaster and distress, and encouraged deeper coordination and unity among CBCI offices and commissions. His heartfelt message of “love your neighbour as you love yourself and live the joy of service” resonated deeply.

Most Rev. Thomas Mar Koorilos reminded us that Christianity is an attraction, urging Caritas members to “spread the fragrance” of love and justice.

Most Rev. Mathew Moolakkatt beautifully described Caritas India as an icon of the poor, the extended hands of the Church in this Year of St. Francis of Assisi.

Their words rekindle our commitment to serve with compassion, humility, and faith—living the true joy of service every day. 🙏

She was abandoned. Branded. Left to raise three children alone after an HIV diagnosis.

But she refused to disappear.

In Gokulpuri, a mother turned a sewing machine into her lifeline. With support from Caritas India’s Gram Nirman program, she rebuilt everything—her health, her dignity, her income.

Today, she earns up to ₹18,000 a month. Her children dream bigger.

This is not survival. This is defiance stitched into every thread.

In a small, busy lane in Gokulpuri, there’s a sound that means everything to a family of four. It’s the steady, rhythmic hum of a motorized sewing machine. For the woman sitting at that machine, that sound isn’t just about work, it’s the sound of her freedom. Not long ago, her life felt like...
