Students of ARISE+ disability projects from Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam came together for an inclusive chess competition.

The journey began with location-level competitions, followed by a final round in where 8 finalists competed for the top spots. The finalists then had the opportunity to experience professional chess up close at the Tech Mahindra Global Chess League, watching the live match between Alpine PBL and Ganges Grandmasters.

From local competitions to the GCL arena, the initiative created an opportunity for students with disabilities to compete, showcase their skills and experience the excitement of competitive chess.

The Zero Project Technology Forum Mumbai 2026, hosted by Tech Mahindra Foundation, brought together Assistive Technology innovators, government representatives, civil society organisations, and ecosystem partners committed to advancing disability inclusion.

We were honoured to have Ms. Manmeet Nanda, IAS, Additional Secretary, DEPwD, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, GOI deliver the keynote address. The forum created a platform for promising Assistive Technology (AT) innovations to connect with potential partners, collaborate, and explore pathways towards greater adoption and scale.

Innovators showcased solutions addressing diverse needs across the disability spectrum from mobility and communication to visual accessibility, neurodevelopment and independent living.
