Kusum: A Changemaker in Bawana ✨

From an 8th-grade student in Yamuna Pushta to a changemaker in Bawana, Kusum’s journey is the power of one chance. In a family where girls were not allowed to study, she held on to the opportunity her mother gave her. She has been associated as a teacher for the past 24 years at Navjyoti.

In 2002, she began teaching 60 children in a gali for ₹300. Even after relocation to Bawana in 2004, with no proper school or space, she kept going. Through community mobilisation and door-to-door surveys, she has enrolled 400+ children into mainstream education.

Today, her joyful classrooms inspire first-generation learners to dream big. Kusum changed not just her life but hundreds of futures.

We’re glad to share that 11 remedial students from Classes 4 & 5 have cleared the Medhavi Scholarship Examination 2025–26. 🌟

The Medhavi Scholarship Examination is a merit-based initiative conducted at the zonal level by the MCD Education Department, Narela Zone, to recognise and encourage academically performing students through scholarships and awards.

Out of these, 5 students have also emerged as winners and received prizes for their performance. 🎉
