Children's Jamghat Jamghat is an NGO that seeks to rehabilitate street children. We offer a supportive home, foster independence and raise awareness within society.

Jamghat is a registered NGO that seeks to rehabilitate street children and to raise awareness within society by using the medium of street theatre as well as interactive workshops, night-walks and other social means of communication. Jamghat aims not only to provide the homeless a home, but also to equip them with the tools needed to be an able, independent and responsible member of the society th

ey inhabit. With the aim of being more than just a charity, Jamghat hopes to instill within everyone that it cares for, that to be a good human being is as important, if not more, than being a successful one. A little bit about the past…. In 2003, ActionAid India asked theatre artists Amit Sinha and Lokesh Jain to design and stage a play based on life on the streets of India, especially that of the young. The play was to premiere in a program for Prince Charles. Both Amit and Lokesh joined hands with fourteen street children, teaching them to act and express themselves through the medium of theatre for this venture. The play was a major success and at the end of three months, those very children who had been exposed to so much that life had to offer, decided to group together and learn those skills and values that would help them to have a more meaningful life, they called themselves…Jamghat. ✨ A Day of Inspiration, Learning & Celebration! ✨
We are proud to share that 19 young scholars, along with 2 staff members, attended the Scholars Conclave 2025–2026 held at Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, Chanakyapuri, organized by Protsahan India Foundation.

This special platform brought together scholars from various organizations across Delhi, including Jamghat, under one roof—celebrating their achievements and marking an important milestone as they received their scholarships. 🌟

Our children from Aangan Day Care Center and Praangan Center – Takiya Kale Khan beautifully showcased their talent through a powerful theatre performance on “Bal Adhikar” (Child Rights), leaving the audience inspired and thoughtful. 🎭

The day was filled with curiosity and innovation as participants engaged in:
🔬 Igniting Curiosity: STEM Workshop & Live Demonstration
🎓 STEM Access Scholarships for 100 Grassroots Learners

We are especially grateful to Protsahan for extending their support by providing STEM kits to our children, encouraging them to explore, learn, and dream bigger. 💡

It was truly a memorable and enriching experience for all—celebrating learning, creativity, and the bright futures ahead!

A wonderful two-day experience at Praangan! 🌼

We were delighted to host 75 students from Miranda House, Delhi University, at our Praangan centres in Mithai Pul and Shastri Park over two days. The visit was filled with joyful interactions, fun activities, and meaningful engagement with the children.

It was truly heartening to see the students connect so warmly with the community, understand their realities, and share such positive energy throughout the sessions. 💛

A big thank you to Sheela Rajeshwari Ma’am, Upali Ma’am, and Suvasini Ma’am for making this visit possible and for your continuous support.

An evening full of warmth, smiles, and togetherness 🌙✨😊💫

Today, we celebrated a beautiful Iftari at Aangan Day Care Center, Jamghat with 31 wonderful children 🧒👧💖. The atmosphere was filled with खुशी, laughter 😄🎉, and a strong sense of community 🤝 as everyone gathered to break their fast together 🌙🍽️.

A delicious and lovingly prepared Iftari was served, including kachri, khajur 🌴, refreshing Rooh Afza 🥤, mithai 🍬, crispy piyaz pakode 🧅, alu pakode 🥔, chatni 🌿, and a healthy mix fruit chaat 🍎🍌🍊🍇 🍽️💛. Each item added to the joy of sharing 🤲 and made the evening even more special for the children 💕.

Moments like these remind us of the true spirit of Ramadan — compassion ❤️, gratitude 🙏, and unity 🤲✨. Seeing the happiness on the children’s faces 😊💫 made this celebration truly meaningful and memorable 🌟🌈.

🎉 Jamghat Studio Opening 🎭🎨
We are happy to share that Jamghat is opening a new Workshop Studio — a creative and collaborative space for learning, dialogue, and expression.

This studio is specially designed to support grassroots initiatives, individual artists, and NGOs who are working with communities. Jamghat will provide this space free of cost for workshops, meetings, theatre practices, and creative learning sessions.

Our aim is to strengthen collaboration and create a space where people working at the grassroots level can come together, share ideas, and build meaningful engagement through art, theatre, and community work.

✨ We invite you to join us for the opening of Jamghat Studio.
