Lakshyam was founded in the year 2012 by a young social entrepreneur who further brought the group together to contribute towards the betterment of the society

About Lakshyam:
Established in 2004, Lakshyam is a social enterprise that uplifts children and women of at-risk communities through education & employment. Currently functional in 11 states of India with 13 centers, Lakshyam’s 'Butterfly: Child Welfare & Education' program offers holistic education to children, 'Lakshyam Toy Library' is a need-based approach and 'Rooh: Awakening Women’s Soul' is designed to empower women via awareness, initiation and action. Lakshyam Programs:
'Lakshyam Toy Library' is one of the main programs of Lakshyam that distributes toys and books from the privileged children to the not-so-privileged ones. Toy Boxes are set up in several private schools in Delhi and each child donates a toy and/or book that is then delivered to the 13 tie-up Centers/NGOs across 11 states. Lakshyam Toy Library Centers have been opened in the rural districts of states like Delhi, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

'Butterfly: Child Welfare and Education' program has been designed, keeping in view the two integral building blocks of a healthy child, Development & Participation. The Remedial Education Center based at the Basti (slum) adopted by Lakshyam, JJ Basti in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi provides an education encompassing textual knowledge and personality development, along with special attention to workshops on cleanliness, hygiene, discipline, extra curricular activities and positive life habits that are carried out to help the children join the mainstream society with a broader and deeper capability.

'Rooh: Awakening Women's Soul' is a program that focuses on creating an environment conducive for women from the not-so-privileged communities. Imparting skill building training and teaching the art of sewing, cutting, stitching and embroidery to women, thus creating opportunities for income enhancement. Focus on issues affecting the lives of women, like health & hygiene education, child care and basic civic sense are provide to community women to support them in leading a life with dignity and confidence.

Not every child can reach a library. So we decided to take the library to them.

Lakshyam, in collaboration with Bhooman, is proud to launch our Mobile Toy & Library Project in Noida, a moving space filled with books, toys, creativity, and endless opportunities for children to learn, play, and dream.

Our first session was nothing short of magical. Children eagerly explored storybooks, puzzles, board games, art supplies, educational toys, and music, transforming an ordinary day into one filled with curiosity, laughter, and discovery.

But this initiative is about more than books on wheels. Every visit is accompanied by a dedicated teacher and mentor who brings stories to life, encourages reading, nurtures creativity, and helps children build confidence through joyful learning.

This is just the beginning of a journey to ensure that quality learning reaches children wherever they are, because every child deserves the chance to imagine, explore, and unlock their full potential.

Good health isn't built through treatment alone. It begins with awareness, everyday habits, and the right guidance at the right age.

We were delighted to welcome the Hygiene Team from Taj Hotel to one of Lakshyam's centres for a meaningful session focused on health, hygiene, and well-being.

The team engaged our children through interactive discussions on the importance of personal hygiene, clean habits, and healthy living, making learning both enjoyable and practical. The visit concluded with the distribution of nutritious food, bringing smiles to every child and making the day even more special.

Experiences like these help children develop habits that stay with them for life while showing them that their health and well-being truly matter.

What we throw away can become the beginning of someone else’s livelihood.

Every year, enormous amounts of textile waste are discarded, while many women continue to look for sustainable opportunities to earn and become financially independent.

With the right skills and training, discarded fabric can be given a second life. It can be transformed into useful products, while creating opportunities for women to learn, earn and build greater independence.

When a woman gains a skill, the impact often reaches far beyond her own life.

Through skill training, women gain the confidence and capabilities to earn, contribute to household income and build greater financial independence. In many families, this can mean better opportunities, greater stability and a stronger future for the next generation.

Some lessons cannot be taught in a classroom. They are learnt by showing up, listening, helping and simply being present.

For Agastya, his time with Lakshyam became a journey of learning patience, empathy and responsibility. Whether it was understanding people better, lending a helping hand or learning to care for animals, every experience encouraged him to look beyond himself and become more mindful of the world around him.

What began as an internship gradually became an opportunity to grow as a person. It taught him that making a difference does not always require something extraordinary. Sometimes, it begins with kindness, patience and the willingness to help wherever one can.

We are happy to have been a part of Agastya’s journey and hope these lessons stay with him long after his internship with Lakshyam.

A child's future begins with good health.

At Lakshyam's Dhaula Kuan Centre, we organized a General Health Camp to ensure that the children in our community receive not just medical attention, but the knowledge to lead healthier lives.

The camp included general health check-ups, height and weight assessments, and interactive sessions on nutrition, personal hygiene, and healthy daily habits. Beyond monitoring their well-being, the initiative encouraged children to understand the importance of caring for their bodies and making informed health choices from an early age.

At Lakshyam, we believe that healthcare is more than treatment, it's awareness, prevention, and empowerment. Every child deserves the opportunity to grow up healthy, confident, and ready to achieve their full potential.
