For over three decades, YWCA of India has stood at the forefront of advocating for women’s political representation ✊🏽 🗣️

In its recent statement released on 15th April 2026, YWCA of India called for an immediate and unconditional implementation of the Women's Reservation Bill and urged for the following.

• Enough time for the common citizens to review and understand its provisions and full implications.
• Consultative process with grassroots groups and long-standing women’s movements
• Delinking the Women's Reservation Bill from the delimitation exercise.

Through decades of persistent advocacy and timely intervention, YWCA of India has pushed for Women's rights.
By consistently raising these critical issues, it has played a pivotal role in this parliamentary moment, reminding us that women’s representation cannot be delayed, diluted, or conditional ✨

जन-जन की आवाज़, लोकतंत्र की ताकत 🇮🇳

YWCA of India joined together in the Call for Immediate and Consultative process of the implementation of Women's Reservation Bill and strongly demanded delinking the Women's Reservation Bill with the delimitation exercise.

Our National President , Ms Kunjamma Mathew spoke at a Press Conference organized by the Coalition of the Women's Movements of the country, yesterday.

Our Key Demands included :

1. To ensure genuine public Consultation and engage with women’s organizations, grassroot leaders, civil societies, communities, human rights activists across. As the rightful stakeholders of a Bill that was built on our struggle, we urge the Parliament to honour this spirit.
2. To delink the Women’s Reservation Bill from the delimitation exercise. The Bill should be treated as complete and self-contained. Let women's representation not be treated as a bargaining chip.
3. To Implement the Women’s Reservation Bill without conditions.

YWCA expresses a relief that the delimitation bill associated to the Women's Reservation Bill has not been taken forward by the Parliament.
