From a sporting legacy to a story of her own

At 20, Shameena Riaz steps onto the Asian Games stage as part of India’s squash contingent at Aichi-Nagoya 2026. She will compete in the women’s team event and mixed doubles alongside Suraj Kumar Chand.

The daughter of former India hockey player and two-time Olympian Mohammed Riaz, Shameena grew up around stories of discipline, sacrifice and representing the country. Today, she is building a sporting identity of her own, on the squash court.

Her journey carries a message that extends beyond sport: women deserve the space to dream, compete, lead and be recognised for their own achievements.

To every girl who has ever been told that a certain space isn't for her: step into it. Your talent belongs there too. Your journey matters. Your presence matters. Your dreams matter.
