It aims to reach out to as many people as possible and enable them to access their rights by supporting them with information, referrals and counselling. We also provide information through emails through the Helpline. Over the period of 15 years we have received calls from various parts of India on several concerns related to disabilities like education, basic schemes and entitlements, financial assistance and residential facilities among others.

ASTHA recently organised a Poshan Diwas at the Anganwadi Hub Centre in Okhla Vihar, bringing together mothers, children, Anganwadi workers, and community members to talk about nutrition, anaemia, and child wellbeing.

Nutritionist Dr. Aruna Gaur led an engaging session on healthy eating practices, practical diet ideas using local ingredients, and the free services available through Anganwadis. Anganwadi workers also shared information about the support families can access for children and mothers.

One of the most meaningful parts of the celebration was a healthy cooking activity where mothers prepared nutritious recipes using ingredients and knowledge from their own homes and communities. Parents enthusiastically participated, showcasing a variety of affordable and nutritious dishes that reflected both creativity and care.

The event highlighted an important message: improving child nutrition does not always require expensive resources. Simple, local, and accessible ingredients, combined with awareness and community participation, can go a long way in supporting healthier childhoods.

Poshan Pe Samudayak Samvad, bringing communities together to talk about nutrition, health, and everyday well being.

At the Poshan Mahautsav awareness session by ASTHA, we came together with parents and the children with disabilities community to talk about health, nutrition, and everyday care. These conversations may seem simple, but on the ground, they create understanding, confidence, and support for families who need it the most.

Because awareness is not just about sharing information, it is about building a future where every child is valued, healthy, and included.

Behind narrow lanes in urban slums, many children with disabilities still lack access to regular therapy and support.

Our team continues reaching families with rehabilitation, guidance, care, and therapy sessions, helping children receive the support they need for their development and daily lives.

Every visit is a small but important step towards building more inclusive communities for children and their families.

This Mother’s Day, we celebrate mothers by also asking an important question: why should caregiving rest only on them?

In the bastis and communities we work in, fathers stepping into caregiving can change childhoods.

As an organization working on disability inclusion, ECCD, and early intervention, we believe shared care builds stronger and more inclusive futures for children.

Because care work is everyone’s work.

Children with disabilities are often invisible within care and protection systems. But invisibility is not accidental, it reflects gaps in our policies, practices, and legal frameworks.

Do our laws truly support the care and protection of children with disabilities? Where are the gaps, and how can we move towards more inclusive care systems?

We are glad to share that Pratik Aggarwal, Executive Director of ASTHA, will be speaking at the upcoming online panel discussion “Invisible No More: Strengthening Inclusive Care for All Children.” on 18 March 2026, where we will reflect on the challenges and opportunities in building inclusive care systems for all children in India.

The conversation draws from this important report examining the intersection of disability rights and child protection laws:
https://www.khs.org/disability-and-child-protection-laws-in-india-a-study-of-the-juvenile-justice-care-and-protection-of-children-act-2015-and-disability-laws/

If you work on child protection, disability rights, or care reform, I hope you will join the conversation.
