• Promoting Land Rights, Right to Livelihoods especially of Dalits, Adivasis and Women, particularly single women.

• Addressing Urban Poverty and creating inclusive and equitable platforms for urban poor and informal sector workers, particularly women.

• Building leadership and livelihood skills amongst the youth, in the communities we work with.

• Address the issues of distress-migration and eradicating Bonded Labour by developing community led mechanisms of monitoring and livelihoods.

• Promoting democracy and inclusive governance at all levels and encourage participation of marginalised and excluded communities in socio-economic and political sphere.

• Conservation of Natural Resources, Public Commons and Promotion of community-led mechanisms of monitoring and preservation.

ActionAid Association supported vulnerable families in Mehudi, Uttar Pradesh, to access housing benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and the Chief Minister Housing Scheme. With our support, government officials verified eligible households, and 165 families were added to the beneficiary list. This initiative has brought renewed hope to families, moving them closer to safe, secure, and dignified homes. Access to adequate housing strengthens families, improves well-being.

On 18 June 2026, ActionAid Association, in collaboration with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), hosted an insightful session on *"Rights of Refugees in a Fragmented International Order"* led by Mr. Sandeep Chachra, Executive Director, ActionAid Association. Attended by over 100 postgraduate student interns from 21 states across India, the session explored international human rights law, the global refugee crisis, and the realities of refugee rights in India.

The discussion also highlighted findings from *"Refugees in India: A National Survey of Refugee Communities’ Access to Education, Healthcare and Livelihoods"*, a landmark study covering 2,539 households and 7,883 individuals across 10 states. The research sheds light on the socio-economic challenges faced by refugee communities and offers recommendations for improving access to education, healthcare, livelihoods, documentation, and social protection.

The session concluded with an engaging interaction where students raised questions on refugee case studies, research methodologies, policy frameworks, and media representation, making it a meaningful platform for learning and dialogue on one of the most pressing humanitarian issues of our time.

ActionAid Association organized a community-level awareness programme on Heat Wave Preparedness and Response at Patharabandha Slum, Ward No. 17, Bhubaneswar, to strengthen community resilience against extreme heat conditions.

The programme focused on raising awareness about heat-related health risks and promoting preventive measures to stay safe during heatwaves. Facilitated by Bishnupriya, Snigdha, and Bhaskar, the session engaged community members in discussions on heat safety and preparedness.

As part of the initiative, IEC materials, ORS packets, and glucose packets were distributed to more than 65 participants, helping equip the community with essential information and resources to cope with rising temperatures.

Celebrating 12 Years of Gauravi: A Legacy of Hope, Dignity, and Justice
We celebrate 12 remarkable years of Gauravi, a pioneering initiative that has stood as a beacon of support, solidarity, and justice for women facing violence, harassment, and abuse.
Established in Bhopal through a partnership between ActionAid Association and the Government of Madhya Pradesh, Gauravi has touched and transformed countless lives by providing a safe space, compassionate support, and pathways to justice for survivors.
As we mark this milestone, we fondly remember the inauguration of Gauravi by renowned actor Aamir Khan and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan, reflecting a shared commitment to ending violence against women and advancing gender justice.
We also acknowledge the vision and leadership of Sandeep Chachra and Sarika Sinha and the many dedicated colleagues, partners, and frontline workers whose unwavering efforts have ensured that Gauravi continues to serve women with dignity and care, even during challenging periods such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the past 12 years, Gauravi has become more than a crisis intervention centre—it is a symbol of resilience, empowerment, and collective action. Its journey reminds us that when institutions, communities, and individuals come together, meaningful change is possible.
Here's to 12 years of standing with women, defending rights, and building a more just and equal society. May Gauravi continue to inspire hope and transform lives for many years to come.

ActionAid Association Wayanad team conducted an awareness session for students of Classes 6 and 7 at Government School, Chennalode as observance of World Day Against Child Labour. Around 60 students and teachers participated in the programme, which featured a thought-provoking film screening and interactive creative activities.

The session encouraged children to reflect on the importance of every child's right to live with dignity, access education, dream freely, and enjoy a safe and happy childhood. Through discussions and creative expression, students explored the impact of child labour, recognizing that it robs children not only of education but also of their childhood.

The programme also fostered conversations on empathy, equality, and social responsibility, inspiring students to speak up against discrimination and injustice. It reinforced the message that every child deserves an equal opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

By nurturing awareness and compassion among young minds, ActionAid continues to work towards building a future where every child is free from labour and empowered to reach their full potential.

“Humanitarian Action School for First Responders” brings together community leaders, youth, women, frontline workers, civil society organisations, and local elected representatives from disaster-prone areas for three days of practical learning and action.

Designed as a hands-on, community-centred training process, the School will strengthen capacities in disaster preparedness, early warning, response, protection, and recovery. Through simulations, field-based learning, and collaborative planning, participants will build the skills needed to act as effective first responders and help ensure that humanitarian action is inclusive, accountable, and responsive to the needs of the most vulnerable communities.

The first edition of the school is being held on 25–27 June 2026, at Muttukadu, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu.

ActionAid Association participated in the State Consultation and Rally organized by the Department of Labour and the Network for Protection of Child Rights as part of the Anti-Child Labour Programme in Hyderabad, Telangana. The event brought together more than 500 participants and was graced by Shri Vivek Venkataswamy, Hon’ble Minister for Labour, Employment, Training and Factories, Government of Telangana, and Dr. Shantha Sinha, renowned child rights activist and champion of the movement against child labour.

The programme witnessed the participation of government officials, civil society organizations, students, and community members, who collectively reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating child labour and safeguarding children's rights. The consultation and rally strengthened collaboration among stakeholders and reinforced the importance of ensuring every child's right to education, protection, dignity, and a brighter future.

ActionAid Association marked International Domestic Workers Day with a campaign reaching 3,000 workers across Hyderabad and Secunderabad, Telangana. Through floor meetings in community halls and public spaces, domestic workers learned about minimum wages, social security, workplace safety, and labour rights. In continuation of International Domestic Workers' Day, a District Domestic Workers Collective Meeting was held at the IDCR Hall, Loyola LIBA Campus, Chennai, bringing together 65 domestic workers' collective leaders from 30 locations across the city.

The meeting provided a valuable platform for domestic workers to share their experiences and collectively raise key demands, including the enactment of a separate law for domestic workers, fair wages, social security, pension benefits, ESI coverage, and weekly paid leave. Participants also discussed the proposed Domestic Workers' Job Card and reaffirmed their commitment to collective action for dignity, recognition, and decent working conditions.

A Labour Welfare Board enrolment camp was also organized during the event, enabling workers to access welfare schemes and social protection benefits.

On the occasion of International Domestic Workers' Day, ActionAid Association organized a special awareness and recognition programme to celebrate the invaluable contributions of domestic workers and advocate for their rights and well-being.

The event brought together representatives from the District Labour Department, Women and Child Welfare Department, the Local Complaints Committee, and other key stakeholders. The speakers highlighted the crucial role domestic workers play in supporting households and communities, while emphasizing the need to ensure their rights, dignity, social security, and safe working conditions.

The programme also provided information on government welfare schemes, labour rights, and legal protections available to domestic workers, particularly women. Participants were encouraged to stay informed about their rights and access available support mechanisms whenever needed.

The event served as an important platform to raise awareness about the challenges faced by domestic workers and to strengthen collective efforts towards their empowerment, protection, and inclusion. Participants appreciated the initiative and reaffirmed the need for continued advocacy and support for domestic workers in the district.
