Jaipur Rugs Foundation

Jaipur Rugs Foundation Transforming human capacities by empowering rural artisans towards a sustainable livelihood. Mr.

Jaipur Rugs Foundation is currently associated with over 40,000 artisans in 6 states of India. 80% of the artisans are women and live in disadvantaged rural communities. Our core focus at JRF is to provide skill building and skill up-gradation training to those artisans who are associated with carpet weaving and thereby substantially increase their income. Since most artisans involved are women, i

ncreased income will make meaningful contributions in alleviating poverty. We facilitate income generating opportunities at the door steps of artisans residing in the remotest of the locations and forward & backward linkages with the aid of our strategic partners. We believe there are 3 basic necessities for anyone to live a decent life:

1. Access to a Sustainable Source of Income
We create & transform skills into a sustainable source of income by training low-income people in rural areas in different processes of making a rug & giving them access to manufacturing companies.

2. Access to Education & Health Services
We facilitate the access to medical services by partnering with healthcare providers and we develop alternative education programs for women & girls in artisans` communities.

3. Awareness on Ones Rights
We create local awareness on the regional or central governmental programs for people living in the rural areas. Nand Kishore Chaudhary, the founder, has a dream to empower the weaving community and improve the rural artisans` standard of living while developing human capabilities and skills at the grassroots level. Some storms don’t break you, they open doors you never knew existed.

When this family’s world fell apart, they found their way to the loom. And in its quiet rhythm, something shifted.

They discovered hands that could create beauty they never imagined. A strength they didn’t know they carried. An artist who had been living inside them all along.

The loom was nothing short of magic in their lives. It transformed them. It drew out their courage, their art, their identity. And in their darkest moment, it became their survival. Their hope. Their light.

Strength. Art. Hope. One family’s journey to finding it all. Coming soon.

A truly inspiring visit by the Katwaris.

An exposure visit to Jaipur was organised by the Jaipur Rugs Foundation, giving them an opportunity to go beyond work and also experience leisure, learning, and the city’s culture.

Their determination, hardwork and curiosity were very evident in every moment as they explored the art of weaving with genuine interest and focus. It was beautiful to witness their inspiration to learn, ask questions and engage deeply with the process.

Their energy and commitment made the entire experience special, reflecting the strength and spirit they bring to everything they do.

This Mother’s Day, we bow to the hands that never stopped.

She sat at the loom so her children could sit in a classroom. She worked through long days so her family could celebrate the biggest ones. She scolded, she worried, she prayed, and behind every single moment of it was a love so deep it needed no words.

A letter arrived in Manpura, Rajasthan, all the way from Melbourne, Australia. Written by Margaret Duncan, it was addressed to Anita Devi and Tanu, our two Manchaha artists.

With the utmost gratitude to the artists, the letter reflects Margaret’s joy at having welcomed a truly one-of-a-kind work of art into her home.

And when the letter reached the artists, their happiness knew no bounds.

The Manchaha carpet that traveled this remarkable distance - ‘Dil Khush’ (A Happy Heart) - is Anita Devi and Tannu’s inner and outer world, hand-knotted with a truly happy and free heart that has broken so many boundaries.

“I always get excited looking at the plane in the sky, but I never thought one of my creations would travel by that plane,” says Anita Devi with a smile filled with pride.

From Manpura’s soil to the skies above, this letter and the warmth it stirred is perhaps the most beautiful proof of why we say ‘art unites us all’.

What happens when purpose-led brands are given a platform to pause, reflect and grow together?

Indika, an accelerator program co-created by the Jaipur Rugs Foundation and NICEorg, brings together a powerful cohort of founders who are rooted in sustainability, entrepreneurship and community.

Beyond conversations, the journey extended towards the heart of craft itself. A visit to the village allowed the founders to experience the process first hand- weaving, rug making and directly connecting with the artisans. These experiences brought a deeper understanding of people and their traditions.

These brands aim to uplift the traditional communities and keep centuries old craftsmanship alive. Guided by one of the most influential entrepreneurial voices, Mr. Nandkishore Chaudhary imparted his wisdom to all the new age founders and offered his valuable insights.

"अगर हिम्मत जुटा पाओगे तो सब कुछ है", said Anita Ji.

An inspiring story from Mahadevpurwa, Uttar Pradesh, who didn’t set out to transform her life but only did what life asked from her.

Her journey is a reminder that not every journey begins with ambition, sometimes it arises out of necessity for survival. But what matters is the determination and courage to keep going even when everything seems to be working against you.

Vision is more than just sight - it’s the ability to live, work, and move through the world with confidence.
This World Health Day, we’re reminded that access to basic healthcare, like clear vision, should never be a privilege. Yet, in many rural communities, it still is.

Through Drishti Seva, Jaipur Rugs Foundation, in partnership with the , is working to change that. Across 190 villages, over 280 women, our Drishti Didis- are bringing eye care to doorsteps, ensuring early detection, awareness, and timely support.

They are not just checking eyesight.
They are restoring independence, confidence, and everyday dignity.

Because real health begins when care reaches everyone, everywhere.

It turned out to be such a captivating day. What we thought would be a simple workshop slowly became a space full of curiosity, questions, and quiet excitement.

The children watched closely at first, taking in every movement of the loom. But the real joy was when they got to try it themselves, threads in hand, a little unsure, a little excited, and then completely absorbed in the process.

There were smiles, small wins, and moments of pure focus that said more than words ever could.

It felt special, in the simplest way.
And it makes us want to create many more days like this, where learning feels real, and experiences stay with you long after.

Such a proud and happy moment for all of us at Jaipur Rugs Foundation.
Our artisan Kumari Suman has received the Kamala Award for Young Artisan (2024–2025) by the Crafts Council of India.

From learning weaving from her mother to creating beautiful hand-knotted rugs with her own identity, her journey is full of patience, hard work, and love for the craft.
Moments like these remind us why handmade stories matter so much.

We wish her many more milestones, recognition, and success in the years ahead.
