Week 314 | 🌱

Over 70 volunteers, mostly young adults, came together at Karave Jetty and recovered nearly 1 tonne of waste from our mangroves. 💚

The waste included everyday consumer plastics, food wrappers, bottles, footwear, medicines and thermocol—reminding us how urban waste travels through drains and rivers into our oceans. 🌊

Cleaning up the same pollution again and again is frustrating, but we are not stopping. The solution must also begin at the source—with responsible citizens and stronger measures such as trash booms in city drains to prevent waste from reaching our waterways.

A huge thank you to the Mangrove Foundation, NMMC, and every hardworking Mangrove Soldier who continues to show up. 🙌

Unbreakable 6 YEARS… 313 WEEKS. AND STILL, THE MANGROVES ARE WAITING FOR US. 🌱🇮🇳

Completing 6 years of clearing waste from our mangroves isn’t a celebration—it is a matter of grief and deep self-reflection. Despite years of effort, the influx of waste has not slowed down. Our ultimate goal is to reach a day where Sunday cleanups are no longer needed.

Residents of Mumbai and neighbouring areas must ask themselves: Why do our seas remain polluted?

As our nation steps into its 80th year of independence, our natural elements—water, land, air, fire, and space—remain trapped in pollution. True freedom will only be realised when our planet and its silent creatures are free from environmental harm.

A heartfelt thank you to every volunteer and supporter who has stood by this movement over the last 6 years. ❤️

We urge every citizen to dispose of waste responsibly. If cleaning mangroves gets our hands dirty, it ultimately leaves our planet clean, beautiful, and safe. 🌍

🌿🌊 WHAT HAPPENS WHEN 150 YOUNG MINDS STEP INTO A MANGROVE ? 👣

They don’t just see trash. 🗑️
They see what happens when nature is forgotten. 💔🌱

🔥 WEEK 312 | MANGROVE CLEANUP DRIVE 🔥

This Sunday, 150 enthusiastic volunteers from different colleges 🎓👥 came together to give our mangroves a much-needed helping hand. 💚

And the result? 👇

🗑️ 2.2 TONNES OF WASTE REMOVED! 💪🌿

But this drive was about much more than picking up garbage. ✋🗑️

👨‍🏫 Led by Mr. Rahul Raskar, Hon. Head Coordinator, the students got a firsthand experience of what lies beneath the green canopy. 🌱

They witnessed how plastic, footwear, thermocol and other waste gets trapped between mangrove roots 🥤👟🧴 — choking the very ecosystem that protects our coastline. 🌊🛡️

👣 FROM CLASSROOM LEARNING TO REAL-WORLD EXPOSURE! 🌱

Standing among waste-filled mangrove roots made one thing clear:

💡 Environmental awareness means little unless it turns into action.

During the awareness session 🗣️🌿, volunteers learned about:

🌱 The importance of mangroves
🗑️ The impact of irresponsible waste disposal
♻️ The 3Rs — Reduce • Reuse • Recycle
🤝 And the importance of practising civic sense in our everyday lives.

A special shoutout to our senior volunteers Sohan Bhosle, Amol Mhatre & Nidhi Ma’am 🙌💚 for their valuable support and guidance throughout the drive. 🌿

🌧️ Rain or Shine, Our Commitment Never Stops! 💚 Week 311 – Mangrove Cleanup Drive | Navi Mumbai

While most stayed indoors, 80+ passionate volunteers, led by enthusiastic youth and college students, stepped into the rain to protect our mangroves. 💪🌿

♻️ Impact of the Day:
• 👥 80+ Volunteers
• 🗑️ 500+ kg of waste removed

The harsh reality? Around 80% of the waste was single-use plastic—food packaging, bottles, footwear, thermocol, and even medical waste. Everything discarded into drains and rivers eventually reaches our mangroves, silently destroying these natural protectors of our coastline.

This isn’t just a cleanup drive—it’s a reminder that the real solution begins with responsible citizens.

📢 To every Mumbaikar:
Think before you litter. If you see someone throwing waste irresponsibly, don’t stay silent—speak up. Small actions today will shape a cleaner and greener tomorrow.
