🌟 TRANSFORMING LIVES WITH HOPE, DIGNITY & SELF-RELIANCE: The Matimand School Story 🌟

The Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai Industrial Area is deeply privileged and honored to stand in support of Rtn. Purushottam Maru and Mr. Dilip Jethe, two extraordinary individuals whose selfless dedication is rewriting the future for children with intellectual disabilities.

🕊️ A 17-Year Journey of Compassion
In 2007, Rtn. Maru’s late wife began this mission in Patalganga by fostering a small group of mentally challenged children from lower economic backgrounds. Following her passing, Rtn. Maru turned personal grief into his life’s ultimate calling in her loving memory. Alongside him, Mr. Dilip Jethe and his family have devoted their lives to keeping this vision alive.

🏡 A Holistic Residential Haven
Operating completely without any government aid, the Matimand School in Karjat currently provides full-time residential care to 35 students (ages 6 to 18) who are government-certified low IQ / special needs children belonging to economically weaker sections where parents cannot afford specialized care.

The school ensures:
🍲 Nutritious Meals & Healthcare: Wholesome daily meals, safe lodging, and continuous medical supervision.
📚 Tailored Foundation Education: Specialized curriculum customized to each child’s unique learning pace.
🛠️ Life Skills & Vocational Training: Hands-on training designed for true, long-term financial independence.

✨ Real Impact: 85+ Independent Lives
For underprivileged parents who often lack the financial resources and time required for special care, this school is a lifeline. To date, 85 children have successfully stepped into the mainstream world, secured jobs, and are earning their own livelihood! 💼👏

🏢 Upcoming Permanent Campus:

In just a few months, the school will move into its brand-new permanent building in Karjat, expanding its capacity to nurture 45 children!

Singing Through the Shadows: Suryansh’s Story of Hope 🎶✨
Meet 12-year-old Suryansh, a bright 6th-grade student with a big smile and an even bigger dream—to become a professional singer. 🎤❤️
Suryansh is HIV positive. Not by choice, but due to a tragic lack of awareness. His parents, who work tirelessly as thread-cutting (dhaga cutting) workers in a textile mill, were unaware that a simple blood test during pregnancy could have prevented mother-to-child transmission.
Despite the challenges life has thrown his way, Suryansh has never lost hope.
A Home of Care & A Future of Hope 🏫
Today, Suryansh lives at a specialized care hostel run by the Desire Society, surrounded by children who share similar journeys. Here, he is not defined by his illness, but by his talent, spirit, and ambition.
To support his growth and health, the Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai Industrial Area (RONMIA) has stepped forward to provide essential Nutrient Supplements for Suryansh and 26 other children living at the hostel. Proper nutrition is critical for children living with HIV to build immunity and lead active, fulfilling lives.
A Message That Can Save Lives 🩺
Suryansh’s story carries a message every family needs to hear: Mother-to-Child HIV transmission is almost 100% preventable.
Simple HIV screening during routine pregnancy care allows for treatment that protects the unborn baby.
Awareness and early detection can ensure every child is born HIV-free.

True Strength Has No Excuses: A Story That Will Touch Your Heart ❤️✨
In a world where many of us complain about life’s minor inconveniences, this humble family in Vashi teaches us what true resilience looks like.
The father, Arvind Thakur, works tirelessly as a security guard on a meager salary—the sole earner for a family of five. Life was already a tough mountain to climb, but the challenges didn’t stop there.
His two sons were born without sight. But instead of letting darkness define them, these incredible young men chose hope. Today, both are pursuing their Degree in Arts in Thane, while also mastering vocal music and musical instruments! 🎶📚

Behind their journey is their extraordinary mother, Jagtaran Devi. Her daily life is a selfless marathon—waking up before dawn, preparing meals, and personally guiding both her blind sons to and from college (Vashi to Thane) every single day, while supporting her youngest daughter who is currently studying 11th-grade Commerce. 👩‍👧‍👦

Just when they were managing their fragile routine, tragedy struck: the father fell critically ill and had to undergo open-heart surgery. Unable to take on heavy labor anymore, the family’s survival was put to the ultimate test. 💔

Did they curse their fate? Did they give up? Never. 🙏
Despite every physical and financial hurdle, both parents continue to put every ounce of their remaining strength into educating their children and building a brighter tomorrow.

The Lesson for All of Us:
Problems are a part of life, but desperation is a choice. If a family facing so much can stand tall with dignity and a smile, so can we. Next time you feel like giving up, remember their story. 🌟

🌿 Protect Mangroves, for They Protect Us. 🌿

On the occasion of World Mangrove Day, the Rotary Clubs of Navi Mumbai including RCNM Industrial Area, in collaboration with the Environment Life Foundation, Forest Department, and WWF, proudly participated in a Mangrove Cleanup Drive to protect one of nature’s most valuable ecosystems.

With enthusiastic participation from students, youth, volunteers, and Rotary members, the event was more than just a cleanup—it was a movement toward environmental responsibility. Together, we removed waste from the mangrove ecosystem and learned about the vital role mangroves play in protecting our coastlines, supporting biodiversity, and combating climate change.

The session also highlighted how everyday human actions and negligence threaten these precious ecosystems. Inspired by this awareness, participants pledged to adopt sustainable practices and spread the message of conservation within their families and communities.

💚 Every piece of litter removed was a step toward a cleaner planet.
🌱 Every volunteer became an ambassador for environmental stewardship.
🤝 Every action reflected Rotary’s enduring motto: Service Above Self.

A helping hand by Rotary club of Navi Mumbai Industrial Area

Mrs. M. Brathipa, a mother of two children, and her husband rely on selling flowers to make ends meet. Their lives took a turn for the worse when both of Brathipa’s kidneys failed, forcing her into dialysis. The family could not afford the regular dialysis sessions and the associated medications, leading to financial ruin.

Despite the dire situation, Brathipa’s husband expressed his willingness to donate his kidney. However, the transplant operation was extremely expensive. In response to their plight, the Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai Industrial Area stepped forward with a generous support of 2 lakhs to help cover part of the expenses.

Our members demonstrated remarkable empathy and promptly raised additional funds to support the family. This combined support, along with assistance from other organizations, has instilled confidence in the Brathipa family. They are now optimistic about overcoming this crisis and rebuilding their lives on their own terms.

This incident exemplifies the true spirit of Rotary, where members come together to provide support and compassion to those in need.
