2. Aggressive companies which are hiking crew wages and to be watched out: Synergy , AESM , BSM, FML & Wallem.

3. Indian Seafarers demand is high as compared to year 2021. Expected growth of 15% in employment this year and it's mainly for Junior officers & Ratings. It's picked up because of non-availability of Chinese Seafarers and Ukraine - Russia conflict resulting in low supply from these 2 countries. COVID resulted in less frequency of exams for 2 Years in UK , NZ, Australia and India. As a result 50% Officers delayed their Cert of Competency exams. This impacted promotions of Sr Ranks as well, thus abrupt supply of Sr Ranks. Exam schedule is now normal.

4. There are 533,224 Indian Seafarers registered with DG Shipping and active seafarers data is known at this stage. Year 2022 saw employment of 230,000 Indian Seafarers. Year 2022 saw 457 Master FG lic issued and 756 & 2155 to Mate FG & 2nd Mate FG respectively. This is still 10% lower than the Year 2019. Year 2020 and 2021 were 60% lower than Year 2019 for Cert of competency issued to Indian Seafarers. At any given time nearly 150,000 Indian Seafarers are sailing on Merchant Ships.

Tanker and Gas Market: Indian Seafarers are getting good opportunities on all kind of ships but there's more demand for Indian Seafarers on the Tanker / Gas fleet.

5. Wages , demand / supply of Seafarers: Indians sailing with multinational crew onboard ships is becoming the new norm. Mixed nationality as per Owner's choice to sustain crewing quality and costs is seen too often now. Year 2023 will see a 4-5% rise in crew wages overall.

6. KPIs generally seen for Indian Seafarers:
* About 3% Indian Seafarers are declared temporarily unfit during Pre Employment Medical Examination. Biggest reason is Kidney stone followed by failed TMT. Stringent medical examinations are pursued by companies.
*97% complete contract and 3% break the contract.
* 70% don't change companies when they are in the top 20 Big Companies pool.
Travel: Visa norms and travel is eased off. Indian Seafarers getting US Visa also and travel is easy now.
