Bridging Hearts and Society a lesson in empathy, dignity, and compassion
On January 3, 2025, the Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai Flamingo City partnered with SIES College of Management Studies to co-host a deeply meaningful 15-day community immersion program. This collaboration wasn’t just a college activity — it was a bridge between young hearts and real-world humanity.
Over 300 management students were connected with local NGOs, old age homes, orphanages, and special education centres, where they volunteered their time, energy, and attention. The program was crafted to give students a first-hand experience of service and social issues, not through lectures, but through lived connection.
As students engaged with elderly residents, special needs children, and underprivileged youth, they weren’t just volunteers — they became listeners, companions, and learners. One student shared tearfully, “We came to give, but we received so much more.”
Rotarians from Flamingo City played an active role in planning, mentoring, and participating in select visits, sharing Rotary’s ethos of Service Above Self and guiding students through the process of reflection and impact
The event culminated in a presentation session at SIES, where students shared emotional stories of transformation, along with thoughtful ideas for social innovation. The room was filled with sincerity and newfound respect for the challenges so many people face every day.
What started as an academic outreach ended as a lesson in empathy, dignity, and compassion. For Rotary and the next generation, this was not just an event — it was a promise of continued partnership for a better, kinder society.
