Jagannath Cancer Aid Foundation -Jacaf

Jagannath Cancer Aid Foundation -Jacaf A Home away from home for Cancer patients coming to Mumbai for treatment Thus was born the Jagannath Cancer Aid Foundation, popularly known as JACAF.

Way back in 1996, a few noble-hearted souls being moved by the plight of cancer patients coming from Odisha and other states for treatment of this dreadful disease at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, conceived the idea of forming a trust to help the needy. They thought of giving them shelter, food, local conveyance and medical assistance - basically a home away from home environment. JACAF, a regis

tered public charitable trust having income tax exemption under section 80G, has been operating a shelter home from hired premises in Navi Mumbai. Recently JACAF has been allotted by the government of Maharashtra piece of land near Tata Memorial Hospital second unit at Kharghar, on which it plans to build its own shelter home through donations from corporates and public. WHAT JACAF HAS DONE SO FAR…

* JACAF operational since 1996, runs a 25-bed shelter home in rented premises

* JACAF has so far served and given shelter to 12,780 patients

* JACAF has a special service desk at Tata Memorial Hospital

* JACAF volunteers ensure seamless coordination between patients and hospital

* JACAF volunteers facilitate speedy admission of patients in Tata Memorial Hospital

THE ROAD AHEAD

* JACAF aims build a 40-room shelter home near Tata Memorial Hospital 2nd unit

* Allotted 600 sq. mtr plot of land by CIDCO, foundation stone laid in October

* Initial cost of project 1.75 crore rupees

* First fund-raising programme on Feb 7, 2016 at CIDCO Auditorium, Vashi
