In last weeks torrential rains some villages in Pen taluka of Raigad were affected by floods. Kharoshi was one of these villages where around 250 families were affected Their houses were submerged in around 5-6 feet of water and so they were left with not even bare necessities.
On coming to know about the plight of these families Rotary club of Navi Mumbai Samaritans initiated a drive to provide kits with basic foodstuff to help them tide over this crisis for a few days.
They were helped in this initiative by other Rotary clubs of Navi Mumbai region viz. Rotary Club Navi Mumbai, Navi Mumbai Central, Linktown Airoli and Namastu.
Members of these Rotary clubs garnered the finances to provide kits to those families in need. They were helped by Dr Bhagyashree Jagdale and her team from Rasayani who do social service in the khalapur area. The team distributed the kits n the 14th of July.
