AIOTA Delegation Meets 8th Central Pay Commission (8th CPC) in Lucknow ✨
Today, representatives from the All India Occupational Therapists’ Association (AIOTA) had a highly positive meeting with the officials of the 8th CPC and Member Secretary, Sri Pankaj Jain.
Our 3-member delegation—comprising Dr. Pankaj Bajpai (President, AIOTA), Dr. Vijay Batra (ACOT EC & Member of DCOTPT), and Dr. Kapil Kumar (Member AIOTA & OT, Kannauj Medical College)—warmly welcomed the convener with a floral bouquet.
The 7-member CPC committee patiently heard our crucial demands for the upgradation of Occupational Therapists in government services, including:
🔹 Upgradation of Entry Level Pay from current Level 6 to Level 10
🔹 Better Promotional Avenues & DACP implementation
🔹 Hospital Patient Care Allowance & Non-Practice Allowance

A special thanks to 8CPC officials to provide opportunity to hear AIOTA representatives in the meeting in Lucknow today.

Happy to address the media today in Kochi and welcome a historic Kerala High Court judgement that redefines the future of occupational therapy in India!

The Court has affirmed that Occupational Therapists are independent “Healthcare Professionals” under the NCAHP Act, moving beyond a supportive role. This is a social turning point for healthcare access and professional dignity in our country.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Chairperson of the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP), Government of India, for successfully defending the petition and steadfastly upholding the rights of OT/PT professionals.

A special note of thanks to our dear President, Dr. Pankaj Bajpai, and Secretary, Dr. Joseph Sunny Kunnacherry, who stood as pillars throughout this journey to make this landmark victory possible.
