A place where care pours out from a golden heart.
Vision, dedication and sacrifice of one person can give hope of life and happiness to many in need.
She was inspired and gained interest in leadership and service from her NSS camp, during her graduation days, she found motivation to start an organisation and give back to the society and her home town when she started working as a manager and supervisor at RSVI Mysore, a rehab centre for the blind, immediately after graduation.
Little did she know, when she went there that she would be dealing with blind youngsters, this shocked her initially, but she stood strong and made up her mind to continue working there.
All the inmates were literally her age or older to her. She was responsible for planning their day-to-days schedule. She did it with sole care and interest. It was a matter of days, when she realised how attached the students had gotten to her. Being blind is not a matter for colours and dress code. Those inmates would ask her about the colour and code of her dress, which she cherishes fondly even today.
Her dreams of starting a home for the needy still lingered in her mind as she was promoted and had to move to Bangalore to Mitrajyothi, a school for the blind as a mobility instructor.
Life took a turn here for her, as she was to be wedded and had to relocate back to her little home town and get on with her domestic life, but she always had kept in touch with her students and one of them helped her secure a job in the department of education/inclusive education.
She took up a course in B.Ed (special Ed MR) as that was the need for her career and she also acquired experience in home based education for four years.
As her family life progressed she came across her niece, who she noticed was not showing signs of activity of a normal child.
The child was deaf and dumb and so she took full responsibility of her and got her into a proper education stream, so she her future could be as bright as any others.
Her dreams of starting a place for challenged kids came true a couple of years later, when she started Punaschetana, and dedicated herself to serve people in need.
The day care which has a few children now, and many more waiting to be taken in is run only on the income that she makes working hard. This multi-talented person puts every penny she makes to run this place and has devoted her life to it.
She is a wonderful anchor, a service provider from “Dharmasthala Seva Samithi” and an “AIR” (All India Radio) announcer above all a responsible social worker and a ray of hope for those under her care.
