|| 🤝 Strengthening Partnerships for Community Development and Education ||

On 11 June 2026, Gramya Vikash Mancha (GVM), Nalbari and Goreswar College, Tamulpur signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a collaborative partnership aimed at benefiting students, communities, and volunteers.

The MoU was formally signed by Mr. Phungkha Basumatary on behalf of GVM and Dr. Prativa Patowary, Principal of Goreswar College, on behalf of the college.

This partnership seeks to promote sustainable initiatives in education, livelihoods, skill development, and community engagement by connecting academic learning with grassroots development needs. Through joint activities, training programmes, knowledge exchange, and capacity-building initiatives, both institutions will work together to create meaningful opportunities for students and strengthen community development efforts in the region.

The signing ceremony was also attended by GVM volunteers Mr. Chandan Chakraborty, Mr. Nitumani Kalita, and Mr. Rupjyoti Kumar.

Together, we reaffirm our shared commitment to transforming knowledge into action and building a brighter future for our communities.

Team GVM participated in the TRIBES and JIVA Review Meeting held at the NABARD Regional Office, Guwahati, in the presence of the CGM, NABARD, and other officials. The meeting reviewed the quarterly progress of various projects, with teams presenting their key activities, achievements, challenges, and future plans.

The session served as an excellent platform for learning, knowledge sharing, and discussing innovative practices. Team GVM also shared valuable insights and experiences. It was an enriching and motivating experience for all participants.

|| Empowering Marginal Farmers Through Innovative Irrigation Solutions --- Transforming story from Tripura ||

Gramya Vikash Mancha (GVM) successfully distributed 25 units each of Treadle Pumps, Jalkunds, and Drip Irrigation Kits among marginal farmers from Mainama and Gainama villages in Dhalai.

The distribution was carried out under the project “High-Tech at the Doorstep of the Marginalized – Treadle Pump Jalkund Coupled with Drip Kit for Marginal Farmers in the North Eastern Region.” The initiative is being implemented by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and funded by the North East Institute of Science and Technology (NEIST) under the Science & Technology Interventions in the North East Region (STINER) programme of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER).

This intervention aims to enhance water-use efficiency, improve agricultural productivity, and promote sustainable farming practices among marginal farming communities in the North Eastern Region.

|| Strengthening Education Through Team Learning and Reflection ||

The EFL-ASiA Project Team successfully concluded a two-day Staff Meeting on at the EDC Hall, GVM Head Office. The meeting brought together 33 team members from Barpeta and Tamulpur districts, including Education Facilitators, Library Academic Coordinators, District Coordinators, and the Project Manager.

Key sessions included library demonstrations, Google Classroom orientation, self-evaluation presentations, project re-orientation, and strategic discussions on the way forward. The meeting served as a valuable platform to strengthen teamwork, reflect on progress, and align efforts towards achieving the project’s goals and KPIs.

|| 🐖 Promoting Sustainable Livelihoods Through Scientific Pig Farming ||

Under the SBI Gram Seva Project, Gramya Vikash Mancha successfully distributed 40 Ghungroo pigs to 20 households in Udalguri under the Agriculture & Allied Activities – Animal Husbandry Initiative.

The intervention aims to promote scientific pig rearing and strengthen sustainable livelihood opportunities for rural families. Beneficiaries received healthy pigs along with support for pig sty construction through the provision of cement and tin sheets.
To ensure long-term success, veterinary support, pig insurance, CSF vaccination, deworming, and mineral supplementation have also been provided. This initiative is expected to enhance livestock management practices, improve household income, and build sustainable piggery enterprises in the community.

||🌱 Empowering Farmers Through Spice Cultivation Training ||

Under the NABARD-supported Spice Cluster Promotion Project, Gramya Vikash Mancha, in collaboration with DWIMU, successfully organized a training programme on Spice Crop Cultivation at CMTC, Bhauraguri, Nagrijuli.
The programme benefited 50 farmers from Baltipar and Bhauraguri villages, equipping them with practical knowledge and skills to promote sustainable agriculture, improve productivity, and enhance livelihood opportunities through spice cultivation.

|| Empowering Teachers for Quality Education ||

Gramya Vikash Mancha organized a Teacher Training Programme on Quality and Creative Education at Dakshin Balisatra Primary School, Rangia Block, on 23 May 2026 under the Child Rights Project supported by CRY.

A total of 39 participants, including teachers and School Management Committee members, attended the programme. Resource persons Dipankar Choudhury and Diganta Kumar conducted engaging sessions on innovative teaching methods, joyful mathematics learning, ELPS, and the National Achievement Survey (NAS), emphasizing child-centered and outcome-based education.

The programme served as a valuable platform for strengthening teaching practices and enhancing learning outcomes for children.

|| Strengthening Community Institutions Through Capacity Building ||

A two-day Orientation Programme on the VB-G RAMG and DWIMU initiatives was successfully conducted on 19–20 May 2026 through a collaborative effort of DRDA Tamulpur, BRLF, NERSWN, and Gramya Vikash Mancha for VCDC Chairpersons and members.

The programme witnessed active participation from 18 VCDC Chairpersons along with their respective members. Through a series of interactive group activities, participants shared experiences, generated valuable insights, and engaged in meaningful discussions aimed at strengthening community-led development initiatives.

The programme was graced by the Project Director of DRDA Tamulpur, Regional Coordinators from BRLF, and the Vice President of Gramya Vikash Mancha. They interacted with the participants and emphasized the importance of working closely with the DWIMU team to ensure effective implementation and sustainable outcomes of the programme.

The orientation served as an important platform for enhancing understanding, strengthening coordination, and building the capacities of community institutions for better rural development.

|| Strengthening Livestock Health Through Community Vaccination Drive ||

Under the DWIMU Project, Gramya Vikash Mancha, in collaboration with the Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department and ASRLM, conducted a livestock vaccination drive across various villages of Nagrijuli Block.

During the programme, cattle were vaccinated against Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD), pigs received Classical Swine Fever (CSF) vaccination, and goats were vaccinated against Peste des Petits Ruminants (PPR). The initiative aimed to improve livestock health, enhance productivity, and prevent the outbreak and spread of infectious diseases within rural communities.

Such collaborative efforts play a vital role in safeguarding livestock-based livelihoods and strengthening the resilience of farming households.
