|| Annual General Body Meeting: 2025–26 ||

On 13 September 2026, Gramya Vikash Mancha organised its Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) for the financial year 2025–26.

During the meeting, the General Body considered and approved the Annual Programme Report submitted by the Secretary and the Annual Financial Report submitted by the Treasurer of the organisation. The General Body also discussed and approved the Annual Budget for the financial year 2026–27.

Thereafter, the General Body constituted an 11-member Executive Committee for the next three consecutive years. The following persons were designated as members of the Executive Committee:

1. Sri Prithibhusan Deka – President
2. Sri Pranjal Chakraborty – Vice President
3. Sri Dibakar Deka – Secretary
4. Sri Chandan Chakravorty – Assistant Secretary
5. Sri Hemen Deka – Treasurer
6. Dr. Rajumani Sarma – Executive Member
7. Smt. Phulkan Deka – Executive Member
8. Sri Gopi Nath Das – Executive Member
9. Smt. Anjali Boro – Executive Member
10. Smt. Padma Boro – Executive Member
11. Sri Apurba Chakravorty – Executive Member

The General Body unanimously approved the formation of the above Executive Committee and entrusted it with the responsibility of guiding and managing the affairs of Gramya Vikash Mancha for the next three years.

|| Field Visit by APF and BRLF Team under the DWIMU Project ||

On 9 September 2026, a field visit by the APF and BRLF team was conducted in the Goreswar and Nagrijuli Blocks under the DWIMU Project.

The team visited Bakulguri, No. 2 Dongargaon, Khatarbari, and Baltipar villages across the two blocks. The visit included a Post-Activity Map presentation and observations of interventions such as IBS horticulture, pond development, intercropping, livestock activities under MMUA, and PM-KUSUM initiatives.

The team also interacted with beneficiary households, community members, respective VCDC Chairmen, and Pashu Sakhis to understand the progress and outcomes of the various interventions.

The visit was attended by the TCLCC Chairman, BPM, ASRLM, ADO Ghilajhar, AEA, VCDC Chairmen, and community members.

||🏠 Strengthening Community Infrastructure | HRIDAY Project ||

Under the HRIDAY Project, supported by LIC Housing Finance Limited (LIC HFL), Gramya Vikash Mancha (GVM) has successfully completed the renovation of the Krishna Kanta Para Community Hall at Lalcherra, Manu RD Block, Dhalai, Tripura.

As part of the initiative, a new toilet facility has also been constructed to improve sanitation and provide better amenities for the local community.

The upgraded community hall will serve as a safe and accessible space for community meetings, awareness programmes, training sessions, and other collective activities.

Together, we are working towards stronger communities, better facilities, and improved quality of life.

🎥 Behind the Scenes | EFL-ASiA Project

We are delighted to share a glimpse behind the scenes of a special visit by the CMO Media Cell to 142 No. Goreswar J.B. School under the EFL-ASiA Project in the Goreswar Educational Block on 5 August 2026.

During the visit, the team interacted with teachers and students and explored the Reading Corner established under the project. A reading session conducted by EF Sushmita Das gave the visitors an opportunity to witness the project's activities and engagement with young learners.

The CMO Media Cell also documented various initiatives being implemented at the school through videos and interactions. Nitumoni Kalita, District Coordinator, EFL-ASiA, Goreswar, briefed the visiting team on the objectives, key components and implementation of the project.

We are especially honoured that Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Assam, has shared this initiative on his social media handle, recognising efforts towards strengthening learning opportunities for children.

|| 🌱 Promoting Sustainable & Agroecological Farming Practices ||

A training programme on vermicompost production and an awareness session on the balanced use of fertilisers were jointly organised by the Department of Agriculture, Baksa, in collaboration with the SuATI Project implemented by GVM.

The programme, attended by 40 farmers, focused on reducing dependence on chemical fertilisers and promoting natural and sustainable farming practices.

Farmers shared their experiences of adopting agroecological practices, highlighting improvements in soil health, crop productivity, and reduced use of chemical inputs.

The session provided a valuable platform for knowledge sharing and encouraging farmers to adopt sustainable agricultural practices.

|| Scientific Goatery & Piggery Training under HRIDAY Project ||

Gramya Vikash Mancha (GVM), with the support of LIC Housing Finance Limited (LIC HFL), successfully organised a Scientific Goatery & Piggery Training Programme under the HRIDAY Project at Chailengta, Tripura.

A total of 80 livestock farmers, including 40 goat rearers and 40 pig rearers, participated in the training and gained practical knowledge on scientific livestock management, breeding, nutrition, disease prevention, vaccination, and animal healthcare.

The initiative aims to promote sustainable livelihoods and strengthen income opportunities for rural livestock farmers.

|| Learning from Success: Exposure Visit to Rengam Women Cooperative Society, Majuli ||

An Exposure Visit was organised under the DWIMU Project to the Rengam Women Cooperative Society, Amar Majuli, on 14–15 July 2026, with the aim of learning from a successful women-led cooperative.

Representatives from BRLF, the ant, Gramya Vikash Mancha (GVM), Aronai Handloom Cluster, Nagrijuli, and Jwngthi Cooperative Society, Harisinga participated in the visit.

Established in 2012 with 24 women, Rengam Women Cooperative Society has grown into a vibrant institution with around 303 shareholder weavers, including 180 regular working weavers, operating across five Panchayats in Majuli.

Participants gained valuable insights into cooperative governance, financial management, production planning, record-keeping, marketing, member participation, and skill development. The visit also highlighted how fair wages, market linkages, institutional partnerships, and strong leadership can strengthen women-led enterprises.

An inspiring interaction with Mrs. Dipali Payeng, a member whose family's economic and educational well-being improved through her association with the cooperative, highlighted the transformative impact of women's economic empowerment.

The visit was more than a learning experience—it offered a vision of how collective leadership, cooperation, and cultural pride can empower women, strengthen livelihoods, and build resilient rural institutions.
