"जब तक सांस है, तब तक आस है."
As long as there is life, there is hope.
26 June 2026 | International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking
The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed at Dr. Satyanarayan Nuwal Gurukul De-Addiction Centre through a meaningful and interactive awareness programme dedicated to hope, recovery, and building a drug-free society.
The session focused on understanding why people begin using drugs, exploring biological, psychological, and social factors, along with curiosity and escapism. The devastating impact of substance abuse on the brain (neurological changes), mental health, physical health, relationships, families, and society was also discussed in detail.
Special emphasis was placed on how addiction can gradually affect every aspect of a person's daily life, including family relationships, friendships, education, employment, financial stability, decision-making, emotional well-being, and overall quality of life. At the same time, it was reinforced that recovery is possible with the right treatment, support, and determination.
A role-play activity was conducted in which beneficiaries shared practical solutions to reduce illicit drug trafficking, prevent drug peddling, strengthen community awareness, improve access to rehabilitation, and contribute towards building a safer and healthier society.
Through this initiative, awareness was spread, stigma surrounding addiction was challenged, and the importance of seeking timely help and supporting individuals on their recovery journey was reinforced. Together, we move one step closer towards a healthier, safer, and drug-free future.
