Atmadeepam Society, Nagpur (registered in April 2012) aims to work for Education, Training, Rehabilitation and Holistic Development of all categories of Disabled persons (especially Visually Impaired/Blind) to bring them in the main stream of society to live with human dignity.
1 COMPUTER COURSES:
Atmadeepam has Maharashtra State Certificate in Information Technology (MSCIT course) - mandatory for Government Jobs in Maharashtra, Ms Office and Tally courses for VI/Blind who learn computer skills with the help of JAWS and NVDA (which are screen reading softwares).
2 COMPUTER TYPEWRITING COURSES:
Initially Atmadeepam conducted English/Marathi/Hindi typewriting Teaching courses for four years for VI/Blind to make them eligible for Government jobs and help them pursue higher education. Now we have Computer Typewriting teaching courses. 3 CALL CENTRE TRAINING AND REHABILITATION:
Atmadeepam has executed a project of Vodafone call centre training and rehabilitation project for one year from 2013-14 for the disabled. 4 INDEPENDENT LIVING SKILLS PROJECT:
Atmadeepam has Independent Living Skills project for VI/Blind persons to teach them daily living skills including simple cooking, family life education, personality development and mobility etc. to help them become independent and to get well adjusted in the family and society too.
5 COMPETETIVE EXAMINATION PREPARATION COACHING:
Competetive Examination Preparation Coaching Classes for various examinations are also being conducted.
REHABILITATION PROJECTS:
1 ATMADEEPAM SARGAM(musical group):
“Atmadeepam Sargam”, a musical group of all Visually Impaired/Blind artists has been formed to give them a platform for their talents and also for their social and cultural rehabilitation.
2 ATMADEEPAM AGARBATTI PROJECT: PEDDEL OPERATED AGARBATTI MAKING UNIT FOR 40 VI/BLIND PERSONS:
peddel Operated Agarbatti making unit for 40 Visually Impaired/Blind persons, supported by District Planning Committee, Nagpur/District Disability Rehabilitation Centre, Nagpur(20 machines) and sponsored by Persistent Foundation(20 machines). This project is supported by Cycle Brand, Mysore and Gadchiroli Agarbatti Project.
3 Training of Disposers making.
SPORTS AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
From January 2018 we have started Chess, Shotput, Discus Throw, Athletics and Cricket coaching for Girls and Boys with the support of Nagpur District Chess Association, Department of Physical Education RSTM Nagpur University,Dharampeth Science College and Persistent Foundation.
Our Atmadeepam Vidarbha Cricket Team of girls is Runnerup in first State Level Tournament organized by Cricket Association of Blind Maharashtra.

1 Parents/Students support group for holistic development and rehabilitation of VI/Blind.
2 Career Guidance and Counselling Services.
3 Readers’ and Writers’ club for Disabled students.
4 LEGAL AID CLINIC: On 3rd September 16 Atmadeepam has started Free Legal Aid Services Centre, from June 2017 got collaborated with District Legal Services Authority.

Atmadeepam had also conducted workshops such as:

2 Workshop of Independent Living Skills for parents and VI/Blind students by two faculties of NAB Mumbai
3 Sexuality and disability for 40 VI/Blind persons
4 Talking ATM operations for 40 VI/Blind persons
5 Espeak Marathi for 40VI/Blind persons
6 Android phone operations for 40 VI/Blind persons
7 Lecture by Adv. Uday Warunjikar on PWD Act 1995.
8 Work shop to teach nongas recepies.
NATIONAL HANDICAPPED FINANCER AND DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION DELHI PROJECTS(2014-15 and 2015-16):
Implemented Three National Handicapped Finance and Development Corporation projects.
1 English/Marathi/Hindi Typewriting- 30 VI/Blind persons
2 English/Marathi/Hindi Typewriting- 30 VI/Blind persons
3 Computer Operations with Ms Office for VI/Blind for 20 VI/Blind persons
Three projects for 106 students under the initiative of CSR Engineers India Limited (EIL) and sponsored by NHFDC, for Maharashtra State Certificate in Information Technology, Ms Office and Computer Typewriting course has been undertaken from 15th September 2017 to 15th December 2017.
Social ACTIVITIES:
1 10 Visually Impaired/Blind girls of Atmadeepam had participated in Cadence Ramp Inferno .
2 On 14th October 2017 250VI/Blind students, celebrated White Cane Day by holding Traffic Safety Rules Awareness Rally, with District Legal Services Authority and Consumer Justice Council.
3 Celebrated Louis Braille Day on 4th January 2018 with Street Children of UPAy by reading Stories and poems written in Braille to convince them importance of education.
4 10 VI/Blind girls participated in Fashion Show for Save the Girl Child, organized by newspaper Dainik Bhaskar on 21st January 2018.
5 On 11th March 2018 on the occasion of Womens Day Celebration our Blind girls participated in Bike Rally organized by Maharashtra Times.
6 Participated in friendly match organized for social sensitization on 31st March 2018. Employees of Persistent Systems Limited played blind folded with blind girls and boys players of Atmadeepam Society Nagpur.
From July 2017 Atmadeepam Society Nagpur has been included in the list of Empanelled Training Partners (ETPs) for skill development of Persons with Disabilities.
Our students are employed in Reserve Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Insurance companies, State Bank of India, Bank of India, Vijaya Bank, Postal Department, Teachers, some are self employed
Atmadeepam has disabled persons working as faculty members. Atmadeepam also has a group of volunteers and donors who help us from time to time.
