Church of North India Social Service Institute The Church of North India Social Service Institute (CNI-SSI), works for the cause of education, services, rights and justice of marginalized people.

Church of North India Social Service Institute (CNI-SSI) also known as Industrial Service Institute is an effort by the Ecumenical Churches to express their concern for people’s needs. CNI-SSI is a response to socio-economic, political, cultural and environmental problems and issues that are creating disparity among people. It is a people’s movement that began its journey in late sixties addressin

g the issues of the Industrial labour in Nagpur. In eighties a massive movement of Cycle Rickshaw pullers movement was lead by CNI-SSI. In nineties ISI organized slum women for awareness, training and empowerment and started number of training programmes to increase productivity, efficiency and protect their rights. The present work is addressing the socio-Economic conditions of the rag pickers community, Marginalized farmers, Women and children from different oppressed communities. Providing Vocational (skill development) training and empowering the un - employed youth and women for socio- economic freedom is one of the main activities of the organization. CNISSI was registered as society in 1982 and moving on with the mission to liberate the communities from the bondage of poverty and oppressive social - political structures. CNISSI continues to work for and with downtrodden and marginalized women, youth, children and farmers in the Vidharbha region of Maharashtra through various initiatives. And has made remarkable impression in the field of community development and Human Rights.

On 30 March 2026, the CNI Social Service Institute marked a significant milestone with its 'Give to Gain' themed International women's day celebration. The event featured a keynote address by Dr. Mrs.Rekha Bhutada, Director for the financial Institute, who shed light on the importance of Functional and Financial literacy. Mrs.Aradhana Upadhyay, Director of CNISSI, facilitated a thought-provoking session on entrepreneurship and saving, which was followed by an interactive group discussion and presentation. The program was initiated by Mrs. Shanta Barsagade, expertly coordinated by Mr. David Yohans, and concluded with a sincere expression of gratitude by Dr. Siddharth Bhange.

CNI-SSI has organized a Training program at Trinity hall of CNI-SSI on 25th July 2025 for self help groups of CNI-SSI. The objective was to provide training to the office bearers of the newly formed Self Help Group of CNI-SSI. Sessions were conducted on topics including "SHG to CBO" by Dr. Vilas Shende, CEO of Association of Charitable Hospitals, bookkeeping by Dr. Siddharth Bhange, and account maintenance by Mrs. Usha Niswade, all pertaining to SHG. Mrs. Aradhana Upadhyay shared insights on the objectives of SHG. Mr. David Yohans facilitated the proceedings, while Mrs. Shanta Barsagade proposed a vote of thanks.
