GANESHA IDOL MAKING: A BLEND OF ART AND AWARENESS
Chaitanya Counselling Centre (A project by the Rotary Club of Nagpur) in collaboration with the Interact Club of Modern School, Koradi, recently organized a Ganesha Idol making activity that merged creativity with a deeper purpose. Students not only shaped idols with their own hands but also added meaningful messages on mental health awareness to it.
The uniqueness of the activity lay in how the idols themselves became the messengers of mental health awareness. Each idol carried a thought that seemed to speak directly to us β reminding us to seek support when needed and take care of our mental health. For example, one idol βsaid,β βA positive thought a day makes stress fade away!β Another said, βYour mental health is as important as your physical health.β Through this integration of art and awareness, the activity highlighted that mental health is not just a conversation but a way of living- gentle, mindful, and strong.
The students were briefed about βmental hygieneβ and the idea behind the activity by Ms. Devika Gokhale, Psychologist- Chaitanya Counselling Centre. Along with this, the concept of βmindfulnessβ was also introduced to the students, by Rtn. Manisha Golchha, who is also a psychologist. She explained the students how our five senses can help us focus on the present moment and feel grounded, while they used clay to make the idols.
Overall, the students participated actively in the initiative. Mrs. Sujata Singh, the teacher in-charge for their Interact Club helped in the smooth coordination of the activity.
