We often speak about transforming education in India.
But transformation cannot begin only inside textbooks.

The recent reports and conversations around public education remind us of something important:

A child’s learning is deeply shaped by the space they learn in.
By dignity.
By access.
By whether a classroom feels inspiring or neglected.

Because infrastructure is not separate from education outcomes.
It quietly shapes attendance, confidence, focus, health, and aspiration itself.

If we truly want to improve learning at scale,
we need to stop treating school infrastructure as a side conversation.

Children remember how a place made them feel.

They remember the rooms that felt cold.
The walls that carried neglect.
The feeling of growing up in spaces the world had stopped caring about.

And that is why this work means so much to us.

Because every child deserves more than just shelter.
They deserve comfort.
Warmth.
Softness.
A space that quietly tells them:
“You matter too.”

Sometimes, changing a child’s life begins by changing the space they come home to every day.

They called them “just government schools.”
We saw spaces where futures were being shaped every single day.

So we began transforming them.

Not alone.
But with artists, volunteers, architects, donors, governments, communities, and people who still believe every child deserves dignity in the place they learn.

What started as a few school transformations slowly became something bigger than us.
A movement.
A collective effort to rewrite the story of public education in India.

100 schools transformed.
And we’re only getting started.

Because somewhere right now, another child is walking into a classroom that still needs hope painted back onto its walls.

Story Time-
We found Sriram Kamble our artist and his team during the uncertainty of COVID at a time when the world had slowed down, but our work couldn’t. What started as a simple collaboration turned into something far deeper.

From Latur to the far corners of Maharashtra, he has travelled wherever the work has called him. Not just to paint walls, but to bring them to life. To turn empty classrooms into spaces that speak, teach, and inspire.

There is a certain honesty in the way he works quietly, consistently, without fuss. Long hours, endless detailing, and a commitment that goes far beyond the brief. Every school carries a piece of his effort, his patience, his belief in what these spaces can become.

People like him don’t just contribute to the work.
They become a part of its soul.

But to a child, it can become the beginning of confidence.
The beginning of believing they matter.

Maybe we underestimate how deeply children remember kindness.
Maybe words have always been capable of changing people a little.

So compliment children more.
Tell them they are capable.
Tell them they are loved.
