At just 23, Ukrainian inventor Valentyn Frechka created a way to make paper from fallen leaves without cutting down a single tree.

His company, Releaf Paper, uses 2.3 tonnes of leaf litter to produce one tonne of cellulose, normally taken from about 17 trees.

The method avoids harmful chemicals and turns the leaves into eco-friendly bags, boxes, and other paper products.

Valentyn got the idea at 16 while hiking in the Carpathians, inspired by the piles of leaves covering the ground.

Even after moving to France due to the war, he continued developing his green solution for packaging.

Releaf Paper is now used by companies across Europe looking for sustainable alternatives.

His innovation earned international praise and a Young Inventors Prize from the European Patent Office.

It’s a powerful reminder that fresh ideas can grow even from what’s fallen.

One leaf at a time, he’s changing the paper industry.
