கண் தானம் குறித்துத் தொடர்ந்து மக்களுக்கு விழிப்புணர்வு ஏற்படுத்தி இயங்கி வரும் சமூக ஆர்வலர் ஜெகதீஸ்வரன் அவர்களிடம் பேசினோம். ஜெகதீஸ்வரன் கடந்த 42 ஆண்டுகளாகக் கண்தானம் பெற்றுத் தருகிறார். இதுவரை சுமார் 7154 பேருக்குக் கண் தானம் பெற்றுத் தந்திருக்கிறார். 'Eye call' ஜெகதீஸ்வரன் என்று மக்களால் அறியப்படும் அவரிடம் கண் தானம் கொடுப்பதற்கான வழிமுறைகள் குறித்துக் கேட்டோம். 'Eye call' ஜெகதீஸ்வரனின் எண் - 9443263868

அவர் கூறியதாவது, "கண்தானம் என்பது கண்ணின் கருவிழி அதாவது கார்னியல் பகுதியைத் தானமாக தருவதாகும். ஒருவர் இறந்த பிறகே அவரின் கண் தானமாகப் பெறப்படுகிறது. சிறிய வயதினர் முதல் வயது முதிர்ந்தவர்கள் வரை யார் வேண்டுமானாலும் கண்தானம் செய்யலாம். கண்தானம் செய்வதற்கு வயது ஒரு தடையல்ல. தானம் பெறப்பட்ட கண் கருவிழி மாற்று அறுவைசிகிச்சை மூலம் தகுந்த நபருக்குப் பொருத்தப்படுகிறது. கண்தானம் செய்ய விரும்புவோர் , கண் வங்கியில் பெயரைப் பதிவு செய்து தங்கள் கண்களை தானம் செய்யலாம். பெயர் பதிவு செய்பவர்களுக்குக் கண்தான அட்டை வழங்கப்படுகிறது. நம்முடைய கண்களை தானம் செய்வதற்கு வங்கியில் பதிவு செய்ய வேண்டும் என்ற அவசியம் எதுவும் இல்லை. இறந்து 4 முதல் 6 மணி நேரத்தில் கண்தானம் செய்ய வேண்டும். கண் வங்கியின் மருத்துவக் குழு, இறந்த நபரின் வீட்டில் சென்று கண்தானம் பெற்றுக்கொள்கின்றனர். இரண்டு சாட்சிகள் முன்னிலையில் உறவினரின் எழுத்துப்பூர்வ ஒப்புதலுடன் மட்டுமே கண்தானம் செய்ய முடியும். இறந்தவரின் கண்களைத் தானமாக எடுக்க 20 - 30 நிமிடங்கள் தேவைப்படுகிறது. இறந்த நபரிடம் இருந்து சிறிது (10ml) ரத்தமும் பரிசோதனைக்கு எடுக்கப்படுகிறது. கண் வங்கி பணியாளர்களால் கண் மதிப்பிடப்பட்டு பின் கார்னியல் அறுவை சிகிச்சைக்கு அனுப்பப்படுகிறது." என்றார்.
