Karaikal Women Lead the Call for a World Without War: District-Level Federation Meeting – Karaikal | 21.04.2026

The Karaikal District Fisherwomen Federation meeting was convened under the presidentship of G. Sumathi.

From Unity to Empowerment: Voices of Karaikal Women:
Carrying the powerful message, “War is not the path to peace,” women gathered in white sarees, standing united in their call for a world rooted in love and harmony. This activity was organized to symbolically express women’s collective stand for peace, highlight the impact of conflict on vulnerable communities especially women and children and reinforce the role of women as leaders and peace-builders in society.

Key discussions focused on Election 2026, the strength of women’s voting power, collective leadership, village-level initiatives, economic development, and federation accounts.

When women rise together, peace follows!
The special guest, Ms. Roopika, emphasized that women can meet their needs through their own efforts by engaging in collective, group-based activities. She highlighted that women’s empowerment through collectives is crucial, as it builds financial independence, strengthens decision-making power, creates mutual support systems, and enables women to raise a stronger, united voice in society. Collectives also help women access opportunities, share knowledge, and overcome social and economic barriers together.

Mr. Pushparayan further highlighted the importance of nurturing reading habits among women and children, strengthening women’s leadership, and building the federation into a resilient and successful institution.

The meeting concluded with all participants joining together to raise slogans under the theme, “Let us create a world without war.”

📢 Children Leading Change 💥

40+ children.
1 powerful platform.
Endless possibilities. 🌍✨

On 20 April 2026, a Cluster-Level Children’s Panchayat (CP) meeting was held at Pudupettai, Tharangambadi Taluk, Mayiladuthurai District, bringing together 40+ young vibrant representatives from village-level Children’s Panchayats.

💡 From education to child rights, they’re not waiting for change —
they ARE the change.
🌿 The event was graced by SNEHA Director Ms. Jesu Rethinam, along with trainers Mr. Pushparayan () and Ms. Roopika, and SNEHA staff members, who actively engaged with the children.
Ms. Dhanalakshmi, Sector Head – Children’s Wing, SNEHA, shared the vision and purpose of the Children’s Panchayat, covering:
✔️ Structure & objectives
✔️ One-year achievements
✔️ Future plans & roadmap

🎤 The session was confidently led by CP member Hansika — a true example of young leadership in action.

🌟 More than a meeting — lead for action, an action for change:
Children’s Panchayat is a space where children speak up, lead, and take decisions.
It builds confidence, leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills, shaping them into active community leaders.
🧭 With their own action plans for the coming months, children are not just participants, they are decision-makers, driving real change in their communities.
🔥 Regular engagement = confident voices + responsible leaders.

Young Voice, Big Ideas with greater vision – Children’s Panchayat Meetings at Karaikal! 🌱🎨📖

Children from Karaikalmedu and Kilinjalmedu enthusiastically took part in the Children’s Panchayath meetings held on 11 April 2026, creating a lively space for creativity, imagination, and leadership.
Engaging through drawing and storytelling activities on the theme “Story and Imagination,” children shared thoughtful messages on helping others, protecting the environment, conserving trees, and caring for their community. Their artwork—especially drawings on areca leaf plates, beautifully reflected both creativity and environmental awareness. Each child demonstrated strong imagination, collaboration, team work and a sense of responsibility.

Beyond creative expression, the meetings encouraged collective thinking and decision-making. In a powerful step, children unanimously decided to submit a petition to the Village Coordination Sangam and Village Panchayat, requesting a ban on unhealthy snack items in local shops.

Children’s Panchayaths play a vital role in shaping young minds. They provide children with a platform to express their ideas, build confidence, develop leadership skills, and understand their rights and responsibilities. More importantly, they nurture a sense of ownership and active participation in the community, empowering children to become change-makers in the society they live in.
These meetings stand as a strong example of how children’s voices, creativity, and collective action can lead to a healthier, greener, and more responsible community.
