The most powerful change in a school often starts with how its leaders support their people.

For Selva Bharath, Headmaster of Sirumugaiputhur Government Higher Secondary School, leadership is about creating the conditions for others to thrive.

After participating in the School Leadership and Management (SLAM) course, he began introducing changes that strengthened not just systems, but people.

Some of the shifts that stood out:

• AI training for teachers.

• More transparent communication with parents and students.

• Well-being initiatives and leadership opportunities for teachers.

• Student leadership and after-school learning initiatives.

These actions reflect a broader leadership mindset rooted in innovation, trust, empathy, and continuous learning.

The School Leadership and Management (SLAM) course equips school leaders with research-backed tools, frameworks, and mindsets to drive meaningful change in their schools. The impact extends beyond classrooms, strengthening school culture, communities, and outcomes for every child.

Watch the full video to see how Selva Bharath translated his SLAM learnings into meaningful changes in his school.

What if inclusion begins with changing what we choose to see?

During School Leadership and Management course's (SLAM) Residential program in , Vidhya Vidhai Foundation, collaborated with Sol's ARC for a powerful session on Leading for Inclusion in Schools.

Together, we learned to look at disability differently, not through limitations but through possibilities.

One activity stayed with us deeply. We discussed the kinds of work people with disabilities “can” and “cannot” do and slowly began unpacking the myths we carry. Leaders looked at the lives of great achievers like Amitabh Bachchan, Sudha Chandran, and Srikanth Bolla and realised that when we think of them, we don’t see them only through their challenges. We see their talent, courage, leadership, and impact.

That was the moment the myth broke.

People with disabilities are not defined by disability. They are defined by their dreams, abilities, contributions, and achievements.

For the Vidhya Vidhai team and the SLAM Cohort, this session was truly an eye-opener. It helped us gain new perspectives on inclusion, equity, and the kind of education our schools urgently need today.

We are grateful to Ketaki Tarde from Sol's ARC for helping us learn, unlearn, and rethink what inclusive leadership can look like in schools.

Inspired to become a leader who builds inclusive classrooms and communities? Apply for the next SLAM cohort and be part of this journey.

What changes in a school when leadership changes?

Not just results
but how classrooms function,
how teachers collaborate,
and how decisions are made every day.

At Vidhya Vidhai Foundation, we believe that meaningful school improvement doesn’t start with more resources, it starts with stronger, more intentional leadership.

Because leadership shapes how teachers work,
how decisions are made,
and whether effort actually leads to impact.

This belief is what led us to build SLAM (School Leadership and Management), a practice-based learning journey for school leaders (Principals, correspondents, aspiring teachers and other school leadership staffs) to drive real, visible change in their schools.

We’re constantly trying new things in schools. But what turns effort into visible growth?

2026 (School Leadership and Management Programme) is designed for school leaders who want to improve how students participate, how classrooms function, and how daily routines support learning.

Across schools, the challenge is rarely a lack of ideas. It is turning those ideas into consistent practice. SLAM focuses on this shift. Leaders work on real challenges in their own schools, such as strengthening classroom interactions, redesigning routines like assemblies, or building better support systems for teachers.

They test what works in their context, refine it, and build approaches that lead to visible changes such as more active student participation, clearer routines, and a stronger learning environment.

If you are a principal, coordinator, or teacher aspiring to lead a school and want to move from intention to consistent implementation, this programme may be worth exploring.

Gratitude is changing classrooms in Nagapattinam.
In Nagapattinam, small moments like a kind word, a shared notebook, a helping hand are shaping how students learn, connect, and grow together.

What began as one gesture has become a shared culture, embraced by students, teachers, and school leaders alike. Because lasting change in schools happens when it’s built together.

Every child deserves a school where curiosity is nurtured and learning is meaningful.

We are grateful to supporters like PayPal, whose partnership helps school leaders implement Micro Improvement Projects (MIPs) to bring child-centered learning into their classrooms.

It’s inspiring to see how our school leader shares his improvement projects in school with the Paypal team. Leaders like Mr. Asok V, quietly transform schools into places where every student has the opportunity to thrive.

If you’d like to learn more about supporting school leaders in creating child-centered learning environments, we’d love to hear from you.
