The war of during invision of Turbak in Kaliabor in 1532 almost 900 Musalmans stood against the Ahom force, and were imprisioned later on, these war prisoners were settled in Kaliabor and their descendents came to be known as Morias,History also reveals that these Morias were captivated in 1532 and were settled in Kaliabor,But a close study on their settlements unveiled that they war prisoners beloning to the 1315 century.Besides, the fact that some customs and useges of the bodo are pervaded in the social life of the Moria discloses that they were old Musalamans.In the chapter “Racial Division”of his book ‘Asom Buranji’,Padmanath Gohain Boruah,a prominent historian of Assam,is of the opinion that the Moria is one of the oldest tribes of Assam.According to him,these people had come to Assam from Gour(Bengal reigon)as the soldiers of MD.GHORI in 1204 AD and were identified as Islamic people.
