V-CARE (Vision for Culture, Arts and ‘Research Enhancement) is a Mysore (Karnataka, India) based Non-governmental organisation working for cultural promotion and Social rejuvenation with the sole object of helping the people in research and development in Social Work in general and Fine Arts in particular. Along with cultural promotion and Social rejuvenation, the other objectives of the organisat
ion are empowerment of women and children, addressing mental health issue among women, children with special focus on adolescents, Personality development programmes for youths, Establishment of multi-dimensional therapeutic centre etc. With the above objectives the organisation came into existence in June 2009 officially, though it is working from past twelve years. Its interventions have been in rural communities and also with certain NGOs where needy people are extended with institutional care rehabilitation. The major activities of V-CARE in these areas are providing different types of counselling, training in various aspects to the students, teachers as well as the women folk of the community. Dr. Kumudini Achchi, the founder Chairperson of the organisation and a professional social worker serving the Department of Studies in Social Work of JSS College, Ooty Road, Mysore as Assistant Professor, being herself a classical dancer has been using the classical art form ‘Bharatanatyam’ as a therapeutic intervention with such children and adolescents as well as adult group of different NGOs who are in need of it. Along with her, noted doctors, IT professionals, folklorists, farmer leaders and farmers, social workers, teachers, yogis are rendering their service. It is a non profit organisation working basically on the existing needs of the community.
