On this special day, Family Service Centre reaffirms its commitment to building healthier communities.

Through FSC’s ongoing projects in Colaba, Cuffe Parade, and Uttan, FSC strives to support underprivileged families with care, dignity, and compassion.

👩‍🍼 FSC’s Antenatal & Postnatal Care Program ensures mothers receive regular home visits, counselling, and nutritional support like ladoos to promote healthy pregnancies and recovery.

🏥 FSC extend medical assistance to community members diagnosed with serious chronic illnesses helping them access government schemes like MPJAY and Ayushman Bharat, along with financial aid and continuous guidance.

💊 Through FSC’s TB Project, we provide nutritional and support, counselling to home visits, and regular follow-ups to ensure better treatment outcomes and stronger recovery journeys. FSC successfully conducted a staff training session on 26th March 2026, facilitated by Ms. Rukiya Rawat a passionate educator, writer, and experienced school administrator with over 12 years of leadership in the education field.
Ms. Rawat has been a constant support to FSC, designing the Balwadi syllabus as a voluntary contribution and regularly conducting training sessions and doubt-clearing for our teachers.
During this session, she introduced the concept of “Calm Classrooms”, emphasizing effective and positive classroom management techniques. Teachers were guided to use simple cues (short sentences) instead of raising their voices for example, “If you can hear me, clap your hands” to gently regain students’ attention.
She also highlighted the importance of:
1.Giving positive instructions (e.g., saying “talk slowly” instead of “don’t talk”)
2.Understanding that lifelong behavior patterns are shaped at the Balwadi stage
3.Using silence as a powerful tool in managing classrooms
Handling aggressive behavior calmly — by separating children involved rather than reacting with shouting, as attention can sometimes reinforce such behavior
4.Encouraging the use of English as the primary language, while allowing other regional languages or the child’s mother tongue when additional support is needed for understanding the concepts.
The session was insightful and practical, equipping our teachers with meaningful strategies to create a nurturing, respectful, and calm learning environment for young children.
We thank Ms. Rukiya Rawat for her continued dedication and invaluable contribution to strengthening our educational practices.

A joyful celebration of sports was held in Balwadi, bringing together children and parents for a day full of excitement and togetherness. The event created a wonderful opportunity for bonding, recreation, and making lasting memories.
Parents enthusiastically participated alongside their children, making the day even more special. Fun-filled activities like getting parents ready, balloon races, arranging cups, and many more engaging games added laughter and energy to the atmosphere.
It was truly heartwarming to witness the spirit of teamwork, joy, and connection shared by everyone. A memorable day that will be cherished by all!

A day filled with smiles, warmth, and togetherness

Children from Colaba, Cuffe Parade, and Shivshakti Nagar came together for a special meal distribution initiative by TAJ IHCL on the occasion of Bharat EkSaath.

With the support of 22 dedicated staff members from TAJ who volunteered for this event. The day went beyond just meals—children engaged in meaningful conversations on career aspirations, enjoyed games, and shared joyful moments through dance and interaction. For many, it was a unique and inspiring experience to connect with professionals, building confidence and a sense of belonging.

A total of 200 children were served meal boxes, making the day truly memorable.

Moments like these go beyond food—they nurture confidence, create connections, and inspire hope for the future.

We sincerely thank TAJ IHCL for this thoughtful initiative and extend our special gratitude to Mr. Vijendra Singh for his invaluable support in making this event possible.

FSC celebrated Women’s Day at Uttan with a meaningful and empowering session conducted by Ms. Assumption Lopes for the women of the community.

The session focused on the importance of being independent, encouraging women to learn new skills, manage their own expenses, and build confidence in making decisions for themselves. She emphasized self-reliance and inspired women to take charge of their personal growth and well-being. The interaction was highly impactful, creating a safe and encouraging space for reflection, learning, and empowerment.

The celebration also witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 120 women. They expressed their joy through traditional dance performances and shared how FSC has positively impacted their lives, making the event even more special and heartfelt.

We are also grateful to our FSC’s Managing Committee Members, Dr. Lidwin Dias, Ms. Sabeena Gonsalves, and Ms. Greta Lopes, for joining the program and extending their support.

FSC extends its sincere gratitude to Ms. Sangita Rajesh Gala, FSC Managing Committee Member, for her unwavering support and dedicated efforts in creating enriching and memorable experiences for our children.
The visits and initiatives organized with her support are highlighted below:
• Organized a visit to Ghoda Garden for 86 Balwadi children, with the support of sponsor Ms. Riva Yogesh Shah. The children enjoyed a fun-filled outdoor experience and received gifts and snack boxes.
• Arranged a boating trip along with refreshments for 50 Balmandal children from Colaba, Cuffe Parade, and Shivshakti Nagar, supported by sponsors Mr. Devansh Shah, Mr. Manoj Shah, and Ms. Naina Shah.
• Coordinated an outing on 26th February 2026 for around 100 children, including newly sponsored students, with the support of donors Mr. Navin Shah and Mrs. Daksha Shah. The day included boating and a visit to McDonald’s, along with distribution of school bags and towels for each child.
• Facilitated a joyful birthday celebration at Amersan Garden, hosted by Mr. Khushal Agrawal and Ms. Kinjal Agrawal, where around 50 children participated and enjoyed a thoughtfully arranged and memorable experience.
These initiatives have brought immense joy and created lasting memories for the children. FSC deeply appreciates Ms. Sangita Rajesh Gala’s commitment, compassion, and personal involvement in making each of these experiences meaningful and impactful.
