PG Cult is the annual cultural festival targeted exclusively for the post-graduate community of IIT Bombay (or PG junta in short). The events spread across 9 genres - 3 performing arts: Dance, Music and Dramatics and 5 non-performing arts: Fine Arts, Literary Arts, Speaking Arts, Design, and Photography and Film & Media is the combination of both. Cultural Council headed by the PG Cultural Nominee along with the PG Coordinators and Conveners for each genre organizes several workshops to cater to the varied tastes and skills of the multi-talented PG’s of IITB. The competitions under PG Cult are based on an inter-departmental format held in two phases – one in each semester. The competitions in the first phase involve mostly solo or dual events which involve comparatively low preparatory events while those on the second phase involve group competitions such as group dance and music band events which are more time demanding. Considering the comparatively greater academic load faced by the PG community as compared to the UGs, the first phase is held around mid-September, one week after the mid-semester exams of the odd semester. The second phase is then held in the second week of March. These dates are decided keeping in mind the busy schedule of the PG’s to give them enough leg-space to prepare for the events while fulfilling the strenuous demands of the curriculum. So junta, what is that breed of the cult that is lying dormant inside you? Is it the mighty pen of a writer or the fire-guzzling voice of an orator? What drives you more? The melodic strumming of a guitar or the twists and curves of dancing? Show them all what you are beyond the humdrum affair of your laboratory or the drool of lectures.
