This country now resembles a Hindu hotel running on Ram’s mercy
Modi government’s negligence is making travel risky
A tragic example of how risky traveling has become in the country is the plane crash that occurred in Ahmedabad on June 12. Out of the 241 people on board, only one survived. The aircraft crashed into the BJ Medical College hostel, killing many people on the streets nearby as well. At least 279 deaths have been reported, though the number may rise. DNA testing is being used to identify the bodies. The black box of the plane has been recovered, and investigations are underway to determine the exact cause. Meanwhile, the government has formed a probe committee. But whether any lessons will be learned from the committee’s findings remains questionable.
Because just days later, on Sunday morning, a helicopter crash in Uttarakhand killed all seven people onboard, including the pilot. Since the start of the Char Dham pilgrimage, there have been at least five such incidents in Uttarakhand. On May 8, a similar crash killed six people. This, too, is a result of the Modi government’s negligence, as aviation regulations are not strictly followed. On June 9, in Mumbai, at least five people died after falling onto the tracks due to overcrowding in a local train. Road accidents are beyond counting—daily, many people are either killed or severely injured. Even pedestrians aren’t safe on the roads.
Instead of working to prevent such accidents, the Modi government seems more interested in photoshoots and making grand claims. The very next day after the Ahmedabad crash, several stylish photos of PM Modi were released. In one image, a part of the plane wreckage is hanging above, and Modi is seen looking up at it. The photo is taken from a low angle, suggesting that the photographer lay on the ground to get that shot. It seems like no matter the situation—be it meditating in a cave, reflecting at the Vivekananda Memorial, visiting Kedarnath, or inspecting a crash site—what matters most is getting a perfect photo.
And as for the accidents, Home Minister Amit Shah has already said that accidents can’t be prevented.
