KNOTTY CRUISE was killed last month. She was only 4 years old.
She spent her entire life as a slave to the horseracing industry.
As a foal, she was separated from her mother. She was denied the chance to grow up naturally, to run freely, or to play with other horses as they are meant to.
At just 2 years old, she was purchased by eight racehorse owners and placed under the care of a trainer at the Bangalore Turf Club. From then on, her life revolved around training, racing, and making money for her owners, breeder, trainer and jockey.
She ran her first race at the age of 3 and was entered into race after race.
On 12 July, she ran her last.
In the final stretch of the race, her leg broke. She collapsed onto the grass, breathing heavily as she was experiencing fear and pain. She lay there while people gathered around her. Moments later, she was given a lethal injection that stopped her heart.
She was only 4 years old.
In memory of Knotty Cruise, we are holding a peaceful protest to demand a ban on horseracing.
