Exposing the hidden cruelty of horseracing

What makes a sport... a sport?

A sport is a display of human qualities, a symbol of empowerment and liberation. Most importantly, a choice to test one’s limits.

Human athletes are driven by passion, discipline, and free will. While horses are driven by the whip, confinement, injuries, and fear.

They are bred and forced to run for profit. Behind every race is a life treated as a commodity, discarded the moment they can no longer perform.

To all who justify horse racing as a sport, would you truly trade places with them?

Don’t watch. Don’t attend. Don't bet.

Another horse killed at the Delhi racecourse

The Delhi Race Club’s stipe report of the 12th April, 2026, races mentioned:

“MASTER MULTITUDE (Angad) suffered a fall, dislodging the rider just before passing the winning post.”

“Veterinary Officer reported that MASTER MULTITUDE suffered a fracture in Right hind limb, hence the horse was euthanized on humane ground.”

How is this legally called a sport?

The horses are forced to run at such high speeds that their bodies can’t withstand it. Hence, their bones break.

When they are lying down on the ground in pain and fear, nobody tries to save them. They are killed and disposed of like broken objects.

Horses are sentient beings who have the right to live free from exploitation and murder.

Don’t watch. Don’t bet. Don’t attend.

Raced for 3 years, exploited for a lifetime, and killed for money.

This 7-year-old horse, ACCUMULATE, was killed on 28th March 2026 at the Delhi Race Club after he “broke his left foreleg” during his 17th race.

He fell. But he got back up and tried to run with a broken leg.

That’s not because he loves to race.

That’s because he is running to save his life, just like he did in every single race he ran.

Let’s end this animal exploitation and brutality in the name of entertainment.

Don’t watch. Don’t bet. Don’t attend.

On 21st March, 2026, at the Mumbai racecourse, one horse managed to slip away from the starting gates and avoided the race.

But what happened next?

He was “apprehended at the 1400 metres chute.”
He was “observed to have a small injury on its right hind stifle.”
And his trainer, Karthik Ganapathy, was asked “to give his charge more gate practice” before his next race.

He underwent a gate practice on 23rd March, had inner sand track work on 26th March, and came under the whip on the next immediate race on 29th March, 2026.

In this maiden race, he was placed fourth, and his owner C Aryama Sundaram, trainer Karthik Ganapathy and breeder Poonawalla earned Rs. 60k by exploiting him.

An industry that profits from enslaving and exploiting defenseless and innocent animals must end.

Don’t watch. Don’t bet. Don’t attend.

On 26th February, 2026, at the Mumbai racecourse, HILMA KLINT, an 8-year-old mare, stumbled and fell during the evening race. She had both her fore fetlock joints fractured, and she was killed later.

She was enslaved all her life by her trainer, Narendra Lagad, her breeder, Villoo's Greenfield, and her owner, Laxmikumar Goculdas rep. B S & Services Pvt Ltd. She was forced to run 39 races for the greed and thrill of her exploiters.

Hundreds and thousands of horses like Hilma Klint suffer the same fate in the horseracing industry. They did not deserve this.

Their lives belong to the grasslands, not concrete stalls.
Their gallop is for freedom, not human entertainment.
Their backs are made to carry the wind, not violent jockeys.

Don’t watch. Don’t bet. Don’t attend.

The Indian Derby is today. Here’s what you can expect?

Horses coerced into wearing saddles, mouth bits, nosebands, blinkers, and whatnot. Pure horror!

Horses paraded like objects while they wince in pain. Cheer on!

Horses shoved into the starting gates. Oh, you may see them try to escape, too!

Horses suffocated, whipped, and even killed. What a place to enjoy your Sunday!

This is horseracing!

BOYCOTT HORSERACING. BOYCOTT VILLOO C. POONAWALLA INDIAN DERBY.

Horseracing is built on the systemic abuse of horses — coercion, fear, whipping, mouth bits, psychological stress, confinement, forced breeding, injuries, and deaths hidden behind entertainment.

There is no “ethical” version of an industry that profits from exploiting defenseless animals.

End all partnerships with horseracing and take a clear stand against animal cruelty.

These were not accidents.
They were forced to run until their bodies broke.

📍 Chennai & Ooty racetracks
📆 2024–2025
⚠️ Confirmed kills

For 248 years, countless horses were confined, bled, whipped, terrorised, and enslaved for gambling and entertainment. This cruelty continues across India.

This isn’t just a memorial.
This is a call to end it.

Don’t watch. Don’t bet. Don’t attend.

No more horseracing in Tamil Nadu, India.

On December 1, 2025, the Madras Race Club at Guindy, Chennai, effectively shut down horseracing after the Madras High Court allowed the Tamil Nadu Government to convert the Guindy racecourse into an Eco Park, prioritising flood mitigation, environmental restoration, and public interest over horseracing, ending 248 years of this animal exploitation in Chennai.

Last year, the Ooty Racecourse was permanently shut after the Tamil Nadu Government reclaimed 53 acres from the Madras Race Club over unpaid lease arrears. With the Supreme Court of India affirming, the 2025 TN budget announcement confirmed that the land will be transformed into an Eco Park, effectively ending horseracing in Ooty for good.

In 2025, there was
No summer season in Ooty
No winter season in Chennai

Which racecourse will shut down next?

Don’t watch. Don’t bet. Don’t attend.
