Peace as the Cornerstone of Justice and Human Progress
Statement by Fahar Manzoor Baba Director General (Republic of India), International Human Rights Commission – Global
On the occasion of the International Day of Peace, Fahar Manzoor Baba, in his capacity as Director General (Republic of India), International Human Rights Commission – Global, issued the following statement:
It is solemnly reaffirmed that peace constitutes the very foundation upon which justice, human dignity, and sustainable development are constructed. Peace must not be narrowly defined as the mere absence of armed hostilities; rather, it represents a comprehensive condition in which fairness prevails, compassion guides action, equality is ensured, and mutual respect forms the cornerstone of relations between peoples and nations.
In an era where the global order is deeply challenged by conflicts, intolerance, and systemic divisions, the imperative for peace has become both urgent and undeniable. The achievement of enduring peace cannot and will not be secured through silence or indifference, but only through dialogue that replaces discord, unity that transcends fragmentation, and understanding that dismantles prejudice. This pursuit demands the moral courage to forgive, the resilience to reconcile, and the wisdom to prioritize humanity above hostility, truth above propaganda, and justice above expediency.
Accordingly, this International Day of Peace must not be regarded as a ceremonial observance, but as a binding reminder of our collective obligation to actively cultivate peace within our homes, our societies, and our international community. It is an appeal for conscious and deliberate action to construct a future where harmony is stronger than hatred, where hope extinguishes fear, and where the enduring light of humanity eclipses the shadows of conflict, oppression, and despair.
Let this day stand as an enduring testament to the unshakable principle that peace is not a privilege for the few, but a right and responsibility for all.
